January 4, 2006 Top K-drama of 2005Hands-down one of the best K-dramas in the recent years. Few come with scripts as well thought-out and well-written as this. I am picky in my taste for dramas (I have very little tolerance for the typical, pathetic melodramas!), so believe me when I say Buwhal is nearly flawless! The writer, Kim Ji-woo, really knows her stuff and doesn't disappoint from eps. 1-24 (too often, K-drama writers stray in the middle of the series and disappoint sadly towards the end...but not this one!). Strong performances from the cast, especially the rediscovered UTW in the lead, and veteran supporting actors known mostly for their roles in the theatre. There is a reason why Buwhal has been hailed by critics as one of the best K-dramas of all time.
Be warned, however -- your life will be consumed by this drama while you are watching it, and to top it off, this is one of those that linger in your mind even when you are through with it. I have not been this touched by a K-drama since DJG (2003-4) and MISA (2004).
