A drama in a class of its own Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10

When I was first asked by a friend to compare Damo to other dramas such as Beautiful Days and Autumn Fairytale, I didnt really know where to start. The comparison was one much akin to comparing a sunrise over the ocean to pretty flowers in a garden.

Even now, it is difficult for me to find a place to start when describing the majestic beauty ?the sheer intensity ?of this series.

When I think about all of the Korean dramas I have watched, I can remember all the crying from Stairway to Heaven and Beautiful Days, all the laughing from Rooftop Room Cat and Sweet 18, all the anticipation from All In and Dae Jang Geum, and all the rush of emotions I got from every other drama I saw. But none of them left a mark like Damo. Whereas all of the depth in the other dramas explores the characters conflicting emotions and affections, even tragic circumstances, Damo takes depth?a step further. There is a sublime and wonderful beauty to the nobility of the human spirit ?an attribute that shapes and defines our existence as humans. And it is this beauty that Damo is smothered in. Often times, the raw power of the plot and character chemistry brought tears to my eyes, even when nothing depressing was actually happening.

Some say the greatest performers and musicians can bring tears to the eyes of their audience from their passion and intensity. Without a doubt, if any Korean drama fits this standard, Damo takes that honor.

Perhaps the only downside for me was that after I walked away from this drama ?an extremely difficult task in itself ?I found myself watching every other drama with a prejudice eye. Id say, that wasnt nearly as good as Damo, or this chemistry is terrible compared to Damo, or this just isnt Damo. There will never be another Damo??something this good doesn't come twice.
