YesAsia Editorial Description
Following the ground-breaking success of the legendary horror film "Ring" and its sequel, director Hideo Nakata works from a stripped-down, old-school chiller written by Kôji Suzuki who is best known as "the Stephen King of Japan."
Yoshimi Matsubara (Hitomi Kuroki) is about to reach a divorce agreement with her husband concerning the custody of their daughter Ikuko. In order to start a brand new life with her daughter, she moves into a spacious apartment which looked nice enough at first visitings. However, right after they moved in, weird and creepy things start happening. The ceiling starts leaking whenever it rains, and strange footsteps are heard from somewhere above, and worst of all, her daughter starts acting very strange. Soon, she finds out about the disappearance of a young girl who used to live a floor above her place, and even more unexpected things happen...

Cool, but...
|
I loved this movie, but I don't get why her mother gave up her life... I get everything that has happened, but not that part... Can someone explain to me why Ikuko's mother did what she did? |

kowai eiga!
|
I just finished watching Dark Water, and I've still got chills running through me! This isn't one of those "I'll swallow your soul" horror flicks like Juon or One Missed Call, but it still manages to be effectively terrifying though glimpses of a ghostly entity and anxious anticipation. At the *very* end there's a scene that's not a shocker like, "Eeek! The End," but it still sent a wave of terror through me! |

FANTASTIC
|
This movie is more well put together and much more scarier than the ring. I especially like the music, when Ikuko opens the little red bag. Only having watched it today, I was feeling sick to my stomach with the mixed feelings of sadness and scaredness. I think that it has a very slow beginning but as it builds up it gets more and more terrifying. A must for Ju-On and Ringu fans. |
