In Perfect Control: "Soul Power Live" ~ David Tao

David Tao, the charming Taiwanese R&B superstar, held his "Soul Power" tour at the Hong Kong Coliseum in August. Not until recently has his record company released the live concert album, which offers fans 28 live songs from the "Soul Power" tour.

It is generally agreed that having been to the "Soul Power" concerts was an absolute, classy enjoyment. As it is said on the album's cover, the success of the "Soul Power" is not only transferred by David's perfect stage performance, but also his live band, which absolutely created one of the most inspirational, appealing musical environments.

Many different pieces from previous years have been performed in David's long-awaited concerts, he also sang several new songs from his latest compilation album "Ultrasound 1997-2003". His live performance has always been reputable and he is in perfect control this time, as he sings at will.

You are going to find David's best-known classics through the years such as "Regular Friends" (Disc1, Track#15), "Find Myself" (Disc2, Track#9), "Beach" (Disc1, Track#13), "Runaway" (Disc1, Track#8) and "Season of Loneliness" (Disc1, Track#14) on this precious 2-CD collection.

As for the present reviewer, he likes the more powerful, live version of "Black Tangerine" (Disc1, Track#11) as it is an unusually ebullient song.

Time is eternal and changes everything else. Time allows David to get a better hold of the lyrics for"Love Is Simple" (Disc2, Track#13), which he captivatingly sings with even more focus. He sings less passionately, but more tenderly.

One of the greatest surprises of the live concert album comes from the crossover of "Regular Friends" in "Quick Sands" (Disc1, Track#4).

David's unique style has branded the medley "Wang Chun Feng/ Ye Lai Xiang" (Disc1, Track#9) with a "Tao-Che-trademark" and refreshes people's impression of the oldies. As for others, the re-edited "Daily" (Disc2, Track#5), "Melody" (Disc2, Track#2) and "10:30 at the Airport" (Disc1, Track#3) are also worth your time listening to.

David's singing talent is godly. I purchased this and then went on to buy all his older cds. Good work David! Show people the true meaning of music: "full of love"....."that's righhhht"!

Wow, this is the best consert ever! I have listened to David Taos songs every day since the day I got the dvd. It`s like you will never get tired of him and his great music. Honestly, this a dvd everbody should have. Why? The answer is: David is simply the best of the best!!!

David Tao Over My Heart Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
DT's "Moon Over My Heart" won me over a billion times... I could listen to that track 10 times a day and would never get tired of it. His voice is so smooth and beautiful. Everyone will fall in love with that song and with David Tao once you see how devoted he is to his craft as artist/musician.

The Charm of David Tao Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
To me, David Tao's charm comes not just from his great vocal ability, good musical skills and talent, but more from having his heart and soul into his music. And this recordings of his show you all of what i've meant.

Honestly, I haven't been so blown away by any Asian singers Live performances for a long time. And David Tao has done it this time. Nothing really fancy, but just the great voice, great music and great band, PLUS he "BANGS" you with his own way of managing and re-arranging his work and makes your mind to supercede the sounds of his original recordings. (Especially with songs like ¡u¶Â¦â¬h¤B¡vand my favourites are -¡u¨FÅy/Somewhere Over the Rainbow¡v, ¡u±æ¬K­·¡D©]¨Ó­»¡v)

And so, this and/or the CD version of the Soul Power Live tour, is/are a must-buy for "super" David Tao fans like me and definitely for those who want to listen to more David Tao's works - as it contains songs from earlier on 'til now. And I can tell you that I have "converted" many of my friends into David Tao fans after listening to his live performances.

So people, give this and/or the CD a try!
