January 10, 2009 love it! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
this has to be one of the best mini albums of all time! it's uhm jung hwa so of course you can expect KPOP at its best. teaming up with YG entertainment for the entire production of the album only hints at the greatness. you obviously need to like: a) dance music, b) kpop, and c) carefree/gayness music. i love uhm jung hwa's tranny appeal, and i mean this in the most positive way. jung hwa makes me feel happy, youthful, and worry free (which everyone needs)! this cd DOES shy away from her overly sexual/hooker appeal that most would expect. substituting for it, she provides catchier songs, rhythmic dance tunes, and lots of fun, fun fun. all you have to do is pop this CD in and you'll be dancing all by yourself! there really is no track you can't listen to more than once (that's gotta say something!). YG producers really used jung hwa for all she is worth (again, which is alot to say). her vocals are not over worked, the lyrics are energetic, the beats are fun, and the entire album is entertainment. what more could you ask for?

January 10, 2009 good follow up Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
one of the most innovative korean groups out there, casker, has a great follow up to their excellent 3rd album. not an all time chart-topper nor a highly commercial band, this group really brings creativity to the korean music scene. i highly recommend this cd to anyone who is looking for an alternative to the overly generic kpop music out there. although casker do not eliminate the kpop sound from their music completely, they do present a more chill out, ambient, electronic vibe; mixing genres that are a bit more worldly and authentic. the melodies on this album are easier to follow and sing a long to, making it a bit more commercial, i think. their title track "a time for light" (track 2) provides nice, smooth beats with a kpop melody; very catchy. another good track is "secret" (track 7) great brazil-electrico song done ala korean. track 8, "deleting you" featuring the wanted member, stands out for its strong r&b male vocals, groovy beat, and like-able sound. i really enjoy "teum" (track 9); it has a strong sound that makes you want to dance - it mixes the electric-keyboard with the regular piano, providing a very up beat and energetic song. this cd moves away from their highly latin influenced 3rd album and their electronic beats/sounds are less techno induced. instead, the electronic sounds are lighter, almost natural in sound which coincide with the melodies better. track 12, "bing bing" uses the acoustic guitar which mixes the electronic beats in quintessential bossa nova style; typical of casker. overall this cd useless less techno beats and aims to create an organic/ wholesome electro-sound. sticking to softer beats and less stressful sounds, i recommend this cd to those looking to chill out, relax, and let loose.

November 4, 2006 One foot forward Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10

Uhm Jung Hwa’s last record ‘Self Control’ was pretty good (compared to previous albums) as it provided a fresh sound (mainly cd1 which had one of her best songs “union of the snake” featuring roller coaster). On her new record ‘Prestige’ which focuses on a more retro/synth sound, the result is successful. Prestige starts off a little rocky with the song Friday Night, which has a good sound, very 70’s, but something isn’t quite right with the execution; regardless track 2 provides a better beat and overall a more enjoyable rhythm. Moving on to ‘Come to me’ her first single, very catchy, her singing sounds exotic, backed with synthesizers and male backup vocals she sounds great. I really enjoyed the sound of track 4 it has an explosive chorus and her vocals don’t sound typical, rather fitting. The album gains a lot of momentum with “ 바람의 노래” a zesty/inventive song. Followed by groovy tunes the album hits its peek with “dance with me”- a modern day dance song with an 80’s influence- don’t think I’ve heard her sing a song like this and so it stands out very much (in a good way). She continues the good vibe with “ticket to the moon” a consistently fun song, never gets boring as the funky beat keeps you in tune. By the end of the album though it starts to get a little rocky again, her last good song “여왕 폐하의 순정” provides a strikingly pleasant contrast with a lot more melody and acoustic guitar play.

Overall, I think this is a good record because she actually was able to provide a new creative point of view with more gratifying songs; of course it is a very dance-orientated album. Also, Uhm Jung Hwa does not have the strongest voice but she manages to sustain a nice touch of sensuality within each song. I’m glad to see her team up with a different line of producers and song composers that have presented a more artistic record.
