Usual comedian Nick Cheung demonstrates his acting range in Day Off, an offbeat hitman thriller directed by Raymond Leung (Scarred Memory). Lok (Nick Cheung) is a hitman who's about to lose his sight thanks to glaucoma. As if that weren't enough, he's also suffering something of a career crisis, and has human neuroses not usually associated with cool-as-ice killers. But when Lok meets Snow (Yoyo Lam), an eternally cheerful girl saddled with a terminal disease, he decides he may want to change his tune. Redemption becomes desirable for the haunted hitman, but some of the things he's done may be beyond redemption...
Nick Cheung brings emotional complexity to a meaty role and shows off an unseen side of his usual funnyman screen persona. Featuring stylish cinematography and gritty narrative flair, Day Off is a decidedly different genre film that proves compelling and rewarding. Click here to the VCD version.

一段沉重的童年回憶，形成內疚與罪惡感，蠶食了阿樂（張家輝飾）的本質，由一名流氓變成專為人賣命的惡煞。他更認識了一名專門從事殺人買賣的阿圖（敖志君飾），從此阿樂變成殺手。
某天，他視野迷濛，醫生告訴他雙眼的視網膜有脫落跡象，可能會失明。至此，他感受到生命的恐慌，因他快要淪為殘疾。阿雪（林可兒飾）是一名在中國內地成長的少女，她患有腦部絕症。
阿樂與阿雪初次相遇，是在阿雪工作的通宵便利店被劫時，阿雪病發危在旦夕，一向置身事外的阿樂，反常地挺身而出拯救了她，其實從兩人第一個對望眼神開始，阿樂已經喜歡了阿雪。可惜阿雪病情愈來愈沉重，在阿雪離留之際，阿樂答應她，無論如何他也會好好活下去。
最後，阿樂雖也完成任務把阿雪送到醫院來，但為時已晚，阿樂傷心欲絕，虛脫倒下，才顧及到身上所受的傷，原來在車禍中阿樂是被一鐵枝貫穿了腰間。此刻，阿樂也受到命運的挑戰，在死亡邊緣徘徊之際，阿樂遵守著對阿雪的承諾，對生命多了一份堅持，終於，阿樂戰勝了命運死裡逃生後，才發現阿雪原來沒有離他而去，二人開心透頂就如劫後重逢。

The plot sometimes seems to be strange, but if u watch the movie to the end , all makes sense. Day Off reminds me a little bit of" In the mood for love", I think the emotional feelings generated are great, especially at the end... |

THIS IS A REAAAALLLY GOOD MOVIE

Its a story about an ex-killer who saves a girl, and they fall for each other as the story progresses. There are not many plot twists, but there were numerous flashbacks of the ex-killer's past. |
