YesAsia Editorial Description

Immerse yourself into the surreal world of Dead Slowly. Produced by director Jessey Tsang (Lovers on the Road), this avant-garde film noir marks the feature film debut of writer-director Rita Hui, who has crafted a challenging tale of obsession and hallucination. Samuel Pang stars as a detective investigating a case of food poisoning and becomes enamored with a witness on another case (Joman Chiang, Overheard 2). Don't worry about trying to make complete sense of the plot, as Hui intentionally uses a difficult storytelling style that's meant to challenge an audience's preconception of a crime procedural film. Also a video artist, the director also fills her film with striking images that will be difficult to get out of one's mind. Made with the support of Ying E Chi, Hong Kong's premier indie film collective, Dead Slowly was the opening film of the 2009 Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival, as well as a participant in the New Currents Section of the 2009 Pusan International Film Festival.
