武俠動作電影中破格之作，不以爭武林第一，也不是爭武功秘笈，更沒有武林恩怨愛情，而是拍出「斷魂谷」中，人為財死的悲劇。斷魂谷趙家莊主趙雲陽有兩弟子，趙玉龍（岳華）和趙劍英（于倩）。玉龍終年浪蕩江湖。劍英不憤雲陽將財產盡歸玉龍，害死師父，再殺奶媽，嫁禍玉龍，並引其子金虎（陳鴻烈）追殺玉龍。兩人在斷魂谷決鬥，劍英欲收漁人之利，幸金虎和玉龍發現谷中有埋伏，詐傷引出主謀，聯手反攻……羅維成功拍出斷魂谷冷酷孤絕的世界，岳華的瀟洒大俠的形象、陳鴻烈勇猛的外型，讓觀眾留下深刻印象。
Lo Wei was twenty years into his notable career when he wrote, directed, and co-starred in this tale of a murdered lord, a hired killer who unknowingly becomes friends with his intended victim, a vicious bandit chief, a kind blind woman, and a death duel which explodes into an ambush and then a slaughter. Star Yueh Hua would go on to an exceptional acting career, while Lo himself would give both Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan their "big breaks."

Angela Yu steals the show!

"Death Valley" is a blast! Angela Yu Chien is ruthless greed personified as Chao Chien Ying. Her uncle is a kindly and wealthy lord; the lovely Chien Ying has served him and studied martial arts under him. However, as he gets older, he decides that he cannot leave his estate to his niece; he wants a male heir. Consequently, he summons Chao Yu Lung (Yueh Hua) to his home to become his heir. Chien Ying is not about to let her uncle give his estate to anyone else, so she sets in motion a devious plot to claim the estate for herself by cutting a bloody swath through her family. The plot includes fooling her righteous cousin Yu Lung into a confrontation with the equally righteous martial artist Hu Chin, known as Cold-Faced Hu (Chen Hung Lieh). Director Lo Wei keeps the action coming at a furious pace and skillfully navigates the film's complex, but very involving, plot. This really is a terrific film and I enjoyed every minute of it! |

| This is a very good quality video from that era. The picture is very sharp and the story is very entertaining. Worth the money |
