October 22, 2011 OMGEE!I had always liked Dear. Mom, so when I needed more purchases to get YesAsia's free shipping, I thought, why not get this mini-album? I'm so glad I did.
1. Gee
THE song of K-Pop. Enough said.
2. Way To Go
Definitely a great and fun song to perk your mood up when one's feeling down! Loving the slight rock element of the song.
3. Dear. Mom
Have always had a soft spot for this song and it's one of my favourite song of Soshi. Emotional, sentimental, touching.. all the makings of an awesome ballad, especially one dedicated to moms.
4. Destiny
Had never heard of it before I got the album, but I totally liking it! Sounds different from other songs from the girls and I wonder why they haven't sang it live before. A real gem!
5. Let's Talk About LOVE
A light but catchy song that goes well with a good afternoon tea. Something great to listen to when you're just chilling out.
I didn't expect the photo booklet to have so many pages, so it's definitely a bonus. Can't believe how much they have grown from the refreshing Gee days to fierceeee queens nowadays. :)

Album took 9 days to arrive. Envelope is bubble wrapped, with 2 layers of bubble wrap containing the CD (Not sure if you can picture that..). Poster (slightly crumpled at the ends) arrived in a tube and at my doorstep about 3 days later.
Firstly, I really love the exquisite casing! It gives a different vibe from Korean albums, probably justifying the price hike. For those who've seen pictures of it, I like the part where I pull out the CD case and the wording 'GIRLS' GENERATION' can be seen on the plastic case. I also like the button where you press to pop the CD out of its place. (I like weird things like that) As usual, the Victorian-looking girls are stunning in the pictures. I wish there were more pictures of them though. (Eye-pleasing stuff are never enough, right?)
All the songs are great, really. 'Let It Rain' caught my attention first, but I'm loving the entire album, even though I've heard the classics ('Gee' & Genie') for forever. Don't know why but I'm totally into the electric guitar element in 'Beautiful Stranger'. I like how the songs are more vocally-challenging for the girls, and that the songs display a mature side of them instead of just being cutesy (Think 'Echo', 'Etude' etc..).
I hesitated for a LONG time before deciding to buy and personally, S$70 for a CD+DVD&poster is kinda steep. But as a fan, it only feels right to support the girls' Japan debut by getting the album. If not for my slightly-loose purse this month, I'll have to stick to my non-stop replaying of the songs on the globalized video-watching website that starts with Y.
