YesAsia Editorial Description

Devil, a mystery thriller involving crime and investigation, tackles a genre that is rarely covered in Korean dramas. It follows the popular trend of international hit dramas like CSI that feature elaborate production scale, fast-paced, tightly woven plots, and characters with unique professions. Departing from the usual, repetitive K-drama plots, Devil offers a refreshingly unique experience by introducing elements that challenge the viewers' psychology through suspense and mystery. Directed by Park Chan Hong (Revenge), Devil stars rising stars Ju Ji Hoon (Palace), Shin Min Ah (A Love to Kill), and Uhm Tae Woong (Stranger Than Paradise). Shin Min Ah displays maturity and growth in her performance as an absent-minded librarian with psychic abilities. In contrast to his character in Palace, Ju Ji Hoon plays a cold-blooded lawyer whose poker face hides his dual personality. Uhm Tae Woong's charisma shines brightly in his portrayal of a homicide detective who is tormented from the guilt of a crime he committed in the past. Scooped by So-net TV for broadcast in Japan, Devil has earned rave reviews from critics for its bold experimentation and high quality.

The story begins with a girl who witnesses in her own psychic visions the murder of a boy. Her accounts are quickly dismissed due to lack of evidence, but twelve years later the case resurfaces. Homicide detective Kang Oh Soo (Uhm Tae Woong) receives a mysterious letter containing a taro card that reads "judgement". The drama escalates as Oh Soo, now in charge of a case involving the murder of his father's attorney, discovers a matching taro card at the crime scene. When Oh Soo encounters the artist responsible for the pictures on those taro cards, he begins to unlock the puzzle surrounding yet another crime - one that hits much closer to home.

enjoyable Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I couldn't get through an epistle without falling asleep in the beginning but it took a big turn from epistle 7 onwards, you just want to go on watching non stop. I do not like the character of Kang oh soo but in the end he did right. You can feel the pain with the very handsome but cool Ju Jin Hoon but I felt sorry most for Suk Jin and the poor boy who was being bullied. The girl is adorable too. I like how the story was being told and as always, Korean dramas show different kinds of love at its best. If only this drama started off well, I am sure it would be a big hit. If anyone is to be criticised, then it has to be the camera man, who is absolutely awful zooming his lens in and out, making you dizzy. Don't be put off by the beginning. I assure you that you are going to enjoy it thoroughly till the very very end.

A very unusual drama!! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This is one of the best dramas I've seen... the story is dark and a little sad and the characters are different from most dramas. That makes it so refreshing!
I highly recommend to watch it, and this DVD Edition is just simply but beautiful!

Oops again! :) Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
It's Kang Dong Won, not Kim Dong Won who starred in Magic. I recommend watching that series too. Please accept my apology again!

It's Worthy of Your Time!..... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
First of all, I want to apologize that I got Ju Ji Hoon, the leading actor in this series mixed up with Kim Dong Won who starred in another series called Magic. I don't blame you if you don't want to read this review because of the blunder that I've made.

This series is worthy of your time if you like suspense and mystery. It is entertaining because the script is well written and the actings are excellent. The story line is based on crime and murder with a heart wrenching story behind it. It kept me glued in front of the TV because I wanted to find out 'who done it' and why. All three leading actors and actress did an excellent job. I think Ju Ji Hoon's performance was outstanding. As the series unfolds, it makes you think what really shapes a person's basic character and questioning is crime redemption possible. You have to watch it to draw your own conclusion. The series has some slight flaws. I don't think that anyone should take the psychic part of the story too seriously. The flash backs can be cut to a minimal too.
