Vincent Valentine is back in this exciting third installment in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII project! Following such titles as Before Crisis and Advent Children, 2006's Dirge of Cerberus mixes the swords and sorcery vibe of the original RPG game with the trigger-happy thrills that come with the shooter genre! Developed by Square Enix for the Playstation 2, this innovative sequel takes place three years after Final Fantasy VII and one year after the events covered in Advent Children. This time around, the plot revolves around a devastating military force known only as the Deep Ground Soldiers, who are causing some major problems for everyday folks trying to piece their lives back together in the wake of the meteor disaster. It seems these powerful super-soldiers were created as part of a secret black-ops project initiated by President ShinRa, but were all but forgotten following his demise.

With the Deep Ground Soldiers attacking the city, it's up to the mysterious Vincent Valentine to save the day! Other characters like Cait Sith and Yuffie will fight alongside Vincent, as will a group called the World Recovery Organization (WRO) who provide supporting fire for the player at crucial moments during the game. Actual gameplay blends the mechanics of a traditional FPS with the action-heavy elements of games like Devil May Cry. Dirge of Cerberus also boasts a dynamic camera system, strongly reminiscent of Resident Evil 4's over the shoulder view. And don't let the title fool you - Vincent isn't confined to using just his trusty, triple-barreled handgun, Cerberus. He's also got access to a slew of weapons, including shotguns, rifles, and a whole lot more! Featuring plenty of breathtaking CG cutscenes, a cool new online battle mode, and a few surprises sure to please diehard Final Fantasy fans, Dirge of Cerberus looks to be a worthy new addition to the highly-successful Final Fantasy VII franchise!
