Deep in the heart of a tropical rain forest, a team of scientists have unearthed the bones of an ancient creature, buried in the ruins of a forgotten civilization. Led by the gifted but unothdox Dr. Karl Wessinger, the team has discovered a way to remove strands of DNA from the bones of the fossil. Now all they need to reanimate the creature and bring to life the find of the century is a compatible enzyme, but only one person holds that key... Ash Mattley is an overworked physician in an understaffed hospital on the edge of the mighty forest. He is also a gifted scientist, but his work has been discredited by the scientific community. So when Wessinger comes to him with the offer of a lifetime, a way to fund and research his dreams, he jumps at the chance. He leads Wessinger into the jungle to a cave complex where several years earlier he discovered an insert whose enzyme properties beyond the modern medicine. However, when they finally discover a nest of the bugs in an old crypt. Wessinger abandons Ash, leaving him to die...Two years later, Claire Sommersby appears at Ash's hospital. A spate of macabre multilated corpses have appeared in the jungle and Claire has been sent by the American consulate to discover the cause. She implores Ash to help her, but he insists that he no longer goes into the jungle - until he learns that the cause of these bizarre deaths could well be linked to Wessinger. A young native boy, Matzu, the son of the latest victim, tells them he will lead them to the site where his father's body was discovered. From there, they will embark on a journey that...
