I was introduced to TVXQ through The Trax and the song they performed together, "Tri-angle". I wasn't too impressed with the first album, but I knew I liked them. I just wasn't crazy over them or thought they were anything special. Then this album came along and it totally changed my mind. It had a few more upbeat dance tunes rather than it's more lax, earlier album. Rising Sun is really proof of how much more credit these guys deserve! Not only can they dance, they can sing! Add that to some quite unique dance pop and you have yourself a smash hit song. The rest of the tracks were all excellent too -- not a boring one was to be found. Other songs that are good would be Tonight, Beautiful Life, Love Is, and if you're a TRAX fan, Free your Mind. They are truly gods in their own right. Keep it coming with the great songs, TVXQ! :D |

--------TVXQ is from SM Entertainment and has been labeled an "idol group", or a boy band, by both the press and the public. This fatally deprives them of having much of the critical acclaim that they deserve. But if one listens to any of their albums without prejudice, it will become clear to him that TVXQ not only can /sing/, but also has the potential to be one of the greatest artists of this generation. (lol =P) --------It's really unfortunate that TVXQ is usually referred to as the top "idol group" by the Korean media. This group is actually really talented, and all five of them can sing extremely well. They debuted as "acappella dance" group, and while this seems like an awkward concept, in practice it works. --------With this current album, TVXQ has chosen "Rising Sun" and "Tonight" to widely perform and promote. They just finished their run with "Rising Sun" actually. "Rising Sun" is quintessential SM dance music (and they got a lot of crap for it from the "anti's"). However, if you haven't checked out their performances with this song, you don't realize the full significance of this song. The choreography is absolutely amazing, it's /literally/ one of the most successful "performance-oriented" pieces ever in Korean music. This is not five guys moving around separately and being cutesy. The choreography actually uses the five members as a //single unit// to interpret the song. That's right-- the five members move as /pieces/ of a whole, and the whole visual impact and expression is only fully realized when one is looking at all five of them (which one would naturally do, if one is looking at them performing). Yes, "Rising Sun" is, haha, "Korean dance music". But it's a very successful one. This is where TVXQ shows that they are a "dance" group. --------Now, they are currently promoting "Tonight". This song is, //without exaggeration//, one of the most technically challenging songs in the entire Korean music scene. SM was going to push a different song as the follow-up to Rising Sun, but they changed plans and decided to go with "Tonight". This is the first song on the album, and when I heard it, I believed that they could never sing this live. This song smartly utilizes the individual vocals of the members and thus their lows and highs seem to stretch forever (ecstasy! lol). But this also means that this song really pushes all the vocals to their limits. But! TVXQ surprised even me with its ability to sing this song, and sing it like it sounds on the CD, and on a regular basis too. Get a clip of these boys singing this song live. You will be knocked out. The voice range is striking, and the choruses blend seamlessly. YES, TVXQ can sing, and sing very well (and this is what "acappella" means to most Koreans). --------So, in conclusion, TVXQ can both do "acappella" and "dance". And this album is a very good example of the fact. Don't let the whole "popular Korean boy band" prejudice stop you from buying this album! TVXQ is not a follow-up to H.O.T. They shouldn't be compared to the lot of other Korean boy bands that are coming onto the scene either. They're a group of boys who are /actually very very good/, for once. Buy this album, you won't be disappointed. |

| OK...i think that you should get this album if you like tvxq. This album consists of slow, fast, and mid tempo songs. All the songs are good because they r good. espesially Micky and u-kno, they improved the most since the first album. Altho many of the songs are about love, it's very touching. i'm sensitive so i cried when i heard some of the songs. ya...that's how touching i thougt it was. I especially liked free your mind(fast), Always there(slow)((acapella-no instruments, just singing)), Rising sun(fast), Beautiful life(mid-tempo), and dangerous mind(fast). I strongly suggest you buy this CD. TVXQ saranghae!! ^.^ |

| DBSK's 'Rising Sun' is one of my favorite albums. I don't have to skip any track because all of the songs are great. The tracks range from ballad, rock, pop and acapella and this shows DBSK's versatility and their talent for singing. I highly recommend this CD to everyone. |

Worst Boy Band Album of the Year!!!
Worst Boy Band Album of the Year!!!
|
TVXQ's second album is the worst boy band album of the year. The only good song is the title track. I liked the album's title song, "Rising Sun," so much that I bought the album with high expectation. I must admit that the album was the biggest disappointment!!! If you want to hear a good boy band album, buy SS 501's debut ablum. Better yet, buy Buzz's second album, "Buzz Effect." These two bands have good looks and they can sing! TVQX may be getting attention because of their looks, but they have not improved as musicians. If they continue in this path of musical floundering, then they'll soon find that their competitors, such as Buzz, SS 501 or even Paran, have out shined them in the end. Don't waste your money on this album. |
