Kim Ha Neul is too funny to miss
Kim Ha Neul turns into a comic femme fatale in Too Beautiful To Lie (a.k.a. Don't Believe In Her). In Bae Hyeong Joon's 2004 comedy she strikes sparks with Kang Dong Won, the pair showing a delightful comic chemistry. Kim plays Joo Yeong Joo, a young delinquent who tries to take advantage of others using whatever means she can, particularly their sympathy. A moving but contrived story plus some fake tears help Yeong Joo land her latest coup, as she moves the prison jury to tears and earns herself an early parole.

As luck would have it, Yeong Joo runs into Choi Hee Cheol (Kang Don Won), the son of a village mayor who is about to get married and from then on the film becomes a classic screwball comedy. Yeong Joo comes into the possession of the wedding ring meant for Hee Cheol's future bride-to-be, leading to a comic ride full of misunderstandings and suprise consequences that must be seen to be believed.

In the center of this very Korean comedy is the wonderful performance of Kim Ha Neul who blossoms in her role as charming but frequent liar Yeong Joo. Kang Dong Won is the perfect choice as her unsuspecting victim Hee Cheol, whose facial expressions promise to leave the audience caught in infectious amusement. Supported by other fine actors, including Lee Yeong Eun as Hee Cheol's younger sister Soo Mi and Song Jae Ho as the sibling's doubtful father, and possessing of a fine score by Jo Yeong Wook, Too Beautiful To Lie is a comedy that's too good to pass by.

Well-crafted comic gem Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
In "Don't Believe in Her", Kim Ha Neul plays Young Ju, a fraudster just paroled from prison. Through a peculiar set of circumstances, she acquires the engagement ring that a young pharmacist intended to give his snobby girlfriend. When Young Ju seeks to return the ring to the pharmacist's family, she lies to cover up her true identity. Soon she finds herself enmeshed in a web of lies of her own making and she can't get out! The result is a wonderful and surprising romantic comedy. Miss Kim is perfect as the trickster and Kang Dong Won makes a good comic foil for her endless schemes. Very highly recommended.

Too Beautiful to Lie Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This was a charming comedy about misunderstanding and family. The acting was enjoyable, and although the story line was predictable, it was well executed. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie - it was hilarious as well as heart-warming. If you're looking for light comic entertainment, this is well worth your time.

A movie that's Too Beautiful to pass up... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This movie was surprisingly pleasing. Despite the non-catching packaging, the storyline and characters will have you laughing to the end. This is definitely a MUST SEE. It has drama, comedy, and romance all packaged into one. I've seen it countless times and still love it everytime I watch it. The story line is fresh and new. I can see that this movie will pass the test of time.
