ブルックリンのアフリカ系アメリカ人居住区に暮らすムーキーは、イタリア系のサルが経営するピザ屋で宅配の仕事をしている。ある日、ムーキーの友人であるバギン・アウトが来店。だが彼は、店の壁にイタリア系有名人の写真ばかり飾っているという理不尽なクレームをつけたために、店を追い出されてしまう。怒りの収まらないバギンは、店に対するボイコット運動を始めるため、サルにラジカセの音量を注意されたラヒームと結託。２０年もの間、街の人々に愛着を抱きながら暮らしてきたサルと、居住区の若者たちとの間に生じた軋轢が、やがて大事件へと発展していく…。
