Simon Yam goes gleefully over the top in Dr. Lamb, a "true crime" Hong Kong horror-thriller that's certainly not for the squeamish! Simon Yam is the good doctor, a taxi driver who moonlights as a scalpel-wielding, chainsaw-using serial killer. Hot on his trail is the obsessed, dedicated Inspector Lee (played by Hong Kong's official cop actor, Danny Lee Sau Yin). Getting a confession out of the deranged doctor is easy, but trying to understand the workings of his sick, twisted and utterly demented mind is another story. Even though Inspector Lee has his man, he needs to know why and how...and the details of Dr. Lamb's crime spree could make a coroner lose his lunch! Scenes of graphic dismemberment and shocking necrophilia co-exist with sequences of tough police procedure, making this a film for genre junkies or those who just like to see truly off-the-wall midnight cinema that will likely send the weak-stomached home screaming. This is most definitely not a film for everyone, but for those with the stomach for it, Dr. Lamb can be an entertaining - and memorable - Category III thriller.
