素有神童之稱的漁家子弟周計春（明道飾）與富家女孔令儀（李曼飾）邂逅於海邊，又各自到上海求學深造。初次見面，計春便遭到令儀的百般刁難。大學入學考試中，計春設計讓令儀名落孫山，使令儀對他懷恨在心，決計報復。令儀的男友陳子布與她的死黨袁佩珠結成新歡，孔、袁二人反目成仇。令儀試圖把純樸的計春培養成翩翩公子，以報復陳子布移情別戀，遂與袁佩珠打賭……
上海灘股票大亨陳建廷慧眼識珠，將計春引進風趙雲涌的證券股票市場，意欲將他培養成自己的接班人。計春退學進了陳建廷的證券事務所上班業績斐然，從此飛黃騰達，日進鬥金。
孔家被內賊陷害，令儀落魄潦倒，處處碰壁，不得不一邊照顧病父親，一邊接管瀕臨破產的孔氏企業，陳建廷趁機意欲將孔氏企業吞並。令儀找計春幫忙，計春念記舊情，利用股市幫助令儀成功抵制了吞並案，陳建廷卻因此與計春反目，成為對手。
此時計春的未婚妻菊芬出現，然而，意外再次發生……

Why is this show only available in PAL form? I hope they come up with a good US version soon. Why can't the Chinese products have quality discs and packaging like the Korean Ya Entertainment? No double about it, I want to see this show because Ming Dao is in it. But, after awhile, it become addicting. To be honest , the show is like a mixture of : Goodwill hunting Gone with the wind Romance in the rain Jane Eyre but it has a good a cast and then the storlyline gradually draws me in . It makes a good soap opera and I find myself care about what happens to the characters. The two songs in the show are very good too. By the way, I love the nicknames of the two characters. Very funny. They are also look good and act well together too. |

not as bad as thought
| After watching all 31 epistles, I still find the male lead unpleasant to look at. The female lead, too, is not pretty but her acting is fine, especially when she cries. you know why they chose her rather than the prettier supporting female (the one who plays the male lead's girl friend). However the supporting cast is good playing their characters and although the story is by no means perfect, the ending is quite acceptable. The final epistle perhaps is the best. It did linger but in a favourable way. |
