Produced by Singapore's MediaCorp, the martial arts drama series The Legendary Swordsman stars Steve Ma Ching Tao in the role of another Jin Yong character after his star-making turn as Zhang Wuji in the 1994 Taiwan series The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. Here, he plays the swordsman Linghu Chong who is caught in a love triangle with Singapore actresses Fann Wong (Shanghai Knights)'s Ren Yingying and Ivy Li's Yue Lingshan.
Adapted from Jin Yong's classic wuxia novel Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, The Legendary Swordsman is centered on Huashan Sect disciple Linghu Chong. He has mastered the powerful "Du Gu Jiu Jian" sword-fighting skills by chance, which aids him in his adventures in the martial world alongside Ren Yingying, the princess of the demonic cult "Sun Moon Holy Sect".
