A Wonderful Ballad
|
This CD is not my favorite among my L'Arc~en~Ciel collection, but the last song is a wonderful slow ballad with excellent piano accompaniment. It is not similar to their regular rock ballads and is in a class of its own. I think I understand why L'Arc~en~Ciel picked their band name as rainbow in French. Their music is actually multifaceted like a rainbow, colorful with different layers or spectrum of music compositions and expressing different emotions by Hyde's vocals. This ballad belongs to one edge of their music spectrum. I have a few other tracks rated with 4 stars while Track 8 and Be Destined are my other 5 stars favorite tracks. I keep on having new favorites from my L'Arc~en~Ciel albums because I'm adopting to Hyde's styles of singing and I've found L'Arc~en~Ciel members are each very talented. I'm really happy to be their fan and I wish I could be much sooner, perhaps not missed out on their 2008 concerts.:) P.S. I also like The Silver Shining from their Ray album a lot even though that album is also not my favorite from my collection. The track is a slow mix of ballad, r&b and pop with excellent drums and guitar accompaniments. And Hyde's singing is something else. Just listen to it! |

Pure Brilliance
| Melodious guitar, fast drums, jamming bass, and deep beautiful vocals. L'Arc~en~Ciel remasters their debut album and reissued the classic Dune. Some of the songs such as Flood of Tears, and Voice have that sad, minor tone which makes it emotional and classic L'Arc. It really is personal preference if you like their later works, but I think this is an amazing album, because of the blend of sober lyrics and minor melodies. It reminds me of the European style like The Stone Roses or The Cure. |

| What can be said about this CD? My favorite track is "A Taste of Love." Its got such great rythym that i want to dance whenever i listen to it! Hyde is the best vocalist i have ever heard, and living in the US, i've heard quite a few, and been to concerts of major American performers. Haido-san leaves them all in the dust! |

Laruku Rocks!
|
You can hear Ken jamming with his guitar in the intro for the first song, Shutting from the sky accompanied by Sakura talented drumming skill (I prefer Yukihiro, hehe). With Hyde's deep voice, the first songs is perfect for introducing L'Arc~en~ciel for the fans since this is their first album released ten years ago. The second song, Voice also packed with guitar plus heavy drumming accompanied with the drum.this songs is very good especially when you are driving while listening to this song. Hehe.. Taste of Love, Tetsu bass skill was so brilliantly seen in this song as we can hear his intro and this song put heavy on bass, and don't forget Hyde's deep voice was so appopriate for this song.Entichers arequite easy going and when you first hear the song is like a circus song.. Very funny yet very pleasant to listen.Flood of Tears is my favourite song in this album. i just don't know how to describe it coz you have to hear it yourself and I believe you are gonna hook on it! Dune and Be Destined are quite noisy in the start but its very energetic feel makes you scream for more for the album!! Track 8 til number 13 are all very good but I don't have time to describe them here and believe me, just go and get it if you are a Laruku fans. If you wanna get introduced in J-Rock, this is a good opportinity for you!! Laruku ROCKS!! |

Excellent
|
There are so many words to describe this album: wonderful, excellent, outstanding, amazing, etc. The tenth anniversary edition of L'Arc~en~Ciel's first and last indie album gives us this and so much more with three bonus tracks. Without a doubt this is one of Laruku's best, despite the fact that it is before thier major debut. This album shows why they were one of the top indie bands of that time: the songs are amazing, filled with instrumental complexity and hyde's beautifully deep voice. It's evident that they put a lot of effort into this album, and the same effort has earned them the title of the #1 major Japanese Rock band today. This album was truly a treat, not a regretful buy, and I fully enjoyed this album. I was surprised by the high quality sound and just how excellent the songs were in general. A must buy for all Laruku and JRock fans, even if you do have the original DUNE. |
