During the emergence of Taiwan New Cinema, the state-run Central Motion Pictures played a significant role in not only fostering directors of the movement, but the development of Taiwanese Cinema in general. Under its new management, the revamped Central Pictures Corporation has digitally remastered six classic films from the 80s and the 90s, producing brand-new digital prints that guarantee to overcome the test of time. Now, the set of films - titled "I Love Taipei" in reference to the capital city as the films' shared setting - are being released on home video, with director Hou Hsiao Hsien's 1986 Dust in the Wind being the first to arrive on Blu-ray in high definition.

Hou brings his signature long-take style to chronicle a bittersweet romance based on the life of co-screenwriter Wu Nien Jen (also the star of Edward Yang's Yi Yi). Two childhood sweethearts move to Taipei from their rural home to make a living - one as a laborer in a printing factory, and the other as an assistant seamstress. Just when the two seem destined for marriage, the man is called into military duty in the far-off Kinmen County.
