　　家家有本難念的經，朱老先生雖然是台北最了不起的一位國宴主廚，但是他家中也和一般人一樣有許多問題。而這一場風暴就正在醞釀中。他有三位待字閨中、但卻充滿叛逆個性的女兒。在朱老先生的妻子去世之後，他便獨力扶養這三位女兒。大女兒家珍是一個在學校教書的老處女。她認為長女若母，所以為了要孝順父親而奉獻給這個家庭，二女兒家倩是一廣告公司的創意總監，她因為受不了來自父親及整個家庭的壓力，所以常故意作出反叛的行為，最小的亖女兒則是一位對浪漫愛情無可救藥的崇拜者。

　　在朱老先生家的隔壁，最近搬來了一位聒噪的寡婦梁老太太。她幻想著朱老先生會不會為她煮出一桌絕頂好菜…但是就在同時，有人懷孕、有人被拋棄、有人終於找到真正的愛情、也有人死去。觀眾絕對會對中人物的發展感到意外。

　　在這一齣可口、溫馨的喜劇之中，導演李安再一次將意外與情感的糾纏調理成一道豐盛的電影大餐，他用喜劇的手法解決了這個我們常見的家庭問題，並使這個四分五裂的家庭，又能再度團聚於一桌。

this film is one i have wacthed and never forgot. from the same wonderful director of Crouching Tiger, An Li has it all. this film is about a cook who's wife had died. he has 3 daughters, 2 adults and one younger (18 or 20). this plot brings you to the lives of this family and the ending is unpredictable too!
i love the breath taking cooking scenes, it is so artistic!!!! you really have to pay attention to what they are saying and it has a universal methaporic connection. i love this film!!!
