１９１５年フランス・パリにピアフ（本名エディット・ジョヴァンナ・ガション）は誕生した。貧困の中で育ったが、天性の歌声は幼少期から周囲の人を驚かせていた。その声に目をつけたのが、パリの名門クラブのオーナー、ルイ・ルプレである。彼はピアフが２０歳の時に出会い、彼女の歌の虜になり、自らのクラブの舞台に彼女を立たせる事を決意する。この時ルイがつけた彼女の舞台名が“ラ・モーム・ピアフ（小さい雀）”。この瞬間に伝説の歌姫エディット・ピアフという名が誕生し、世界に羽ばたいていく。そして、彼女は、殺人の容疑者、恋人の死、薬物中毒、交通事故など数々の困難に直面しながらも生涯を通じて歌うことは一度もやめなかった・・・。
