When there are bloodsuckers in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Vampire Cleanup Department!

Martial artist Chin Siu Ho starred in many Hong Kong vampire comedies in the eighties and nineties, including the classic Mr. Vampire. The bumbling apprentice vampire hunter of yesteryear now takes on the mentor role in Vampire Cleanup Department, which gives a new-school twist to the old-school horror comedy genre. In his first leading role, Babyjohn Choi (Shockwave) plays the vampire hunter-in-training alongside a cast that includes veterans Yuen Cheung Yan, Law Mong, Siu Yam Yam and Richard Ng, as well as Bondy Chiu and Malaysian singer Lin Min Chen in her film debut. Co-directed by new directors Anthony Yan and Chiu Siu Hang, Vampire Cleanup Department was screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival.

Vampires regularly pop up in Hong Kong, but ordinary citizens never hear about them thanks to the vigilant actions of the Vampire Cleanup Department (VCD). The secret task unit is headquartered in a garbage collection station and patrols the streets at night disguised as street cleaners. However, theirs is a twilight trade run on a shrinking budget, and the team is now down to just department head Uncle Chung (Richard Ng), Taoist priest Ginger (Yuen Cheung Yan), technical support specialist M (Bondy Chiu), weapons expert Kui (Law Mong) and one vampire hunter, Captain Chau (Chin Siu Ho). After discovering that Tim (Babyjohn Choi) is immune to vampire toxin, Chung recruits the geeky youth into the VCD as a trainee vampire hunter, much to the unimpressed disapproval of Chau. On his first operation, Tim not only lets a powerful century-old vampire get away, he unwittingly awakens and then harbors an innocent female vampire (Lin Min Chen).
