| Nagasawa Masami
Long hailed as the future of Japanese animation, visionary filmmaker Shinkai Makoto delivered Japanese cinema's miracle story of 2016 with Your Name, which topped the box office for nine consecutive weeks on its way to becoming Japan's second biggest film of all time, behind only Miyazaki Hayao's Spirited Away. Continuing the aesthetics and themes of films like The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices, Shinkai's blockbuster crowd-pleaser incorporates intriguing fantasy and sci-fi elements into a wistful coming-of-age romance rendered in breathtakingly beautiful and detailed animation. Moving, comedic and mysterious all at once, Your Name won Best Screenplay at the 40th Japan Academy Prize, and the hearts of audiences throughout Asia.
High school boy Taki lives in Tokyo and spends his spare time hanging out with friends and working part-time at an Italian restaurant. High school girl Mitsuha lives in the rural town of Itomori, where her family maintains a shrine, and dreams of life in the city. The two begin to have strange dreams in which they wake up in each other's bodies and bumble through each other's daily routines. Soon, they realize that the dreams are real, and they're actually swapping bodies! Through living each other's lives, Taki and Mitsuha begin to form a close bond. Then one day, just as suddenly as it started, the body swapping stops. Taki sets out to find Mitsuha and uncovers the stunning truth behind their fateful encounter.
This edition comes with the film on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray with English subtitles, a 100-page booklet, an abridged script, mini character seals and three unsubtitled bonus discs of special features, including video storyboard, making-of documentary, visual commentary (Kamiki Ryunosuke, Kamishiraishi Mone and Radwimps), unused audio clips, creditless opening, Suntory CM, Sparkle music video edited by Shinkai Makoto, "The Story of Your Name" talk by Shinkai Makoto, and event videos.
