KBS's ambitious period action drama Gunman of Joseon is set in a turbulent time when modernization and western thought and technology are beginning to take root in 19th-century Korea. In this era of enlightenment and upheaval, the king and rival factions vie for control of the government, conservatives and reformists clash fiercely over the future of the nation, the double threat of Qing China and Japan loom on the horizon, and swordsmen confront the coming of a new age ruled by guns.

Lee Jun Ki stars as Park Yoon Kang, a royal guard chasing after a mysterious sniper who has killed scholars loyal to the king. When Yoon Kang's father, Joseon's greatest swordsman, and family fall victim to conservative machinations, Yoon Kang trades in his sword for a gun to embark on his quest for revenge. Reuniting with Lee Jun Ki seven years after Time Between Dog and Wolf, Nam Sang Mi co-stars as a noblewoman fighting for the reformist cause.
