Almost 60 years after Han Hong Yeol's 1957 Bong-I Kim Seondal, director Park Dae Min (Private Eye) brings the folk tale about Joseon's notorious con man Kim Seon Dal to the silver screen again for his comedic period film Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River. Yoo Seung Ho (The Magician) stars as Kim Seon Dal, a dashing youth known for selling off the ownerless Daedong River. He leads a fraud ring that includes Ko Chang Seok (The Con Artists), Ra Mi Ran (The Himalayas) and EXO's Xiu Min in his big screen debut. The comedy also co-stars Cho Jae Hyun (The Fatal Encounter) as an influential figure in the Joseon dynasty.
Kim Seon Dal (Yoo Seung Ho) begins his con business by selling a rooster as a phoenix at a high price. Banding together with camouflage master Bo Won (Ko Chang Seok), fake shaman Yoon Bo Sal (Ra Mi Ran) and the fraud ring's youngest member Kyun Yi (Xiu Min), the greedy group then disguise themselves as monks and put an astronomical observatory on sale. Seon Dal also dresses up as the King to steal gold from the palace. However, the master fraudster's ultimate goal is to sell the Daedong River to Joseon's most powerful man Sung Dae Ryeon (Cho Jae Hyun).

As the first ever exorcism movie in Korea, the supernatural mystery thriller was screened at the 18th Udine Far East Film Festival. Park So Dam (The Silenced), one of Korea's top new actresses, garnered newcomer prizes at the 7th Korea Film Reporters Association Awards, the 21st Chunsa Film Art Awards and the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards for her impressive performance as a possessed high school girl. The film also stars Kim Yoon Seok (The Classified File) as a priest and Kang Dong Won (Kundo: Age of the Rampant) as a rebellious young seminarian.
High school student Young Shin (Park So Dam), who is part of Father Kim's (Kim Yoon Seok) parish, suffers from mysterious symptoms and falls into coma after a car accident. Believing that she is possessed by an evil spirit, Father Kim asks the church for permission to perform an exorcism. Though the suggestion is turned down at first, the church eventually assigns troublemaking seminarian Choi (Kang Dong Won) to assist Father Kim, but they only have one day left to save the possessed Young Shin.
