EQUILIBRIUM on HD DVD (Cheers) Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
In the U.S., Disney (for now) has declared support only for Blu-Ray. Thank heavens for the lack of region coding for HD DVD because U.S. fans of EQUILIBRIUM can order the Japanese disc and enjoy this movie in Hi-Def. Further good news is that the primary menu choices on this disc are in English (though submenus are in Japanese).

I like this sci-fi flick, and for a film without a big budget, it looks pretty nice on HD DVD (especially when compared to some U.S.-domestic flicks, such as SLEEPY HOLLOW, that don't look as great as some reviewers have claimed). The transfer is very nice although some early shots don't seem as stable as they should, but the image improves. Indeed, I noticed that characters were wearing rich blue shirts when on regular DVD the clothing appeared black.

There are plenty of extras, such as Japanese trailers and some behind the scenes stuff. As for the movie, it's been abused (the premise of an emotionless society doesn't hold water), but the action is very good, and I think this is one of the most underrated sci-fi flicks of recent years. Christian Bale is excellent, and the supporting cast is quite good. Recommended.

This movie was awesome, oh my god! the story, the action and everything else was excelent! not for the lament..this movie is a intelligent Matrix meets Harrison Bergeron(Kur Vonegut book) the story is very deep and they actually make a point, this movie is not some processed movie written in tow hours the story rolls on (like I'm doing now) and it makes you think about about what would happen if the world outlawed feeling and people could not smile, or laugh or listen to music...etc. what side would you be on? would you stand up and fight for was is right? ask yourself that!
That is all I have to say..I believe the movie says the rest..I you donw buy it from here..rent it and check out what your missing.
