I know this movie was not meant to be taken seriously, but at least make it funny. All of the supposedly funny scenes were so cheap and silly. This movie is the prime example of why Hong Kong movies were gone downhill. I have a hard time understanding why the filmmaker even wasted money to make everything so authentic yet the storyline and scripts were so off from the original.

Beyond - 25th Anniversary (3CD)
December 9, 2009 Lots of nice songsI think most of their well known popular songs are in this CD set. The packaging is pretty neat also as they used reflective material on the box. There are also some old pictures of the band inside. Well worth it.

Alan & Hacken 2009 Live Concert Karaoke (3VCD)
December 9, 2009 Nothing newAs much as I like Alan and Hackan. I have to say I'm disappointed that every year they sing the same songs repeatedly. Especially the ones from Alan, some of them are so old and sang on every concert (even his own). How can anyone not get sick of listening to those "classic songs" so many times seriously? Secondly, they tried to squeeze too many songs in one concert, most of the songs are medley and not the full songs. I see some remixes here and there, but still doesn't take away the fact that they are repetitive. It's somewhere entertaining watching it on video, but I don't think I would pay to see them in person. I hope they will sing different songs or maybe other singers' songs next time.

His voice was so unique and sensational that anyone heard it the first time would immediately tune into it. This concert DVD is one of the last footage of Ka Kui performing live. I wish he sang more of the well known songs since there were a lot missing from this concert. Still, very good concert overall. His music will continue to live on forever.

(6)Our Price: US$29.49Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysJuly 19, 2009 It was worth watching (spoiler)As a fan of the story, I've read the original novel as well as watched the TV series made years ago. Initially, I thought this movie was not going to be as good and as detail as the TV series was. But after watching it, I thought it was not as bad as I thought. One of the things I've noticed different was that a lot of the things happened in this movie were quite different or changed comparing to the TV series. Some of the stories in this movies I believe it was purely made up. I'm sorry but I just had a hard time believing that Sun Quan's sister was a spy or Zhuge Liang helped giving birth to a pony. But I also realize that the novel was not 100% historically accurate either. Here are some examples: Zhou Yu got all the credit in winning this battle in the movie while Zhuge Liang did little to contribute the outcome. But in the novel, the role was flipped. Cao Cao was also let go by Zhou Yu in the movie but not Guan Yu? I'm not sure who to believe anymore as far as what really happened. I guess it's irrelevant whether the movie was made historically accurate or not. But I couldn't help but to think how much of it was real and how much was fantasized. I think if you've never read the novel or seen the TV episodes, you might think it's pretty good. But as a die hard fan, I thought the movie was just okay. I couldn't helped but to constantly compare this movie and the TV series in my mind.
I don't have a lot to complain with the cast. Although I thought Tony Leung was just so out of place in it. I thought the guy who played Gan Ning was pretty good. He has that unusual tough facial expression on his face, it was great. Takeshi was not bad either but he wasn't given a lot of important scenes.
Overall the movie was great. It's a little long and boring in some parts. But realize that it's fairly difficult to compress all of the historic information given from the book into a 2 hour movie.

Unexpected Shirley Kwan In Concert 2008 Live Karaoke (3DVD)
March 13, 2009 It was okIn my opinion the concert in 2006 was better almost in every way. Shirley's makeup and costumes were a little over the top for me in this concert. The thing she wore on her head that hung around one side of her face was so annoying. I don't know how Shirley worn it for so long. The song selections were just ok, I felt it's a little boring at times with all of these new songs. I'm still glad to have seen it because it's pretty different than the previous one whether it's for good or bad.

(5)Our Price: US$17.49Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysMarch 4, 2009 Great songs and performanceI've used to be a huge fan of Shirley back in the 80's and 90's but have not heard any of her old or newer songs for many years. I'm really glad that I get to listen to her old songs again because they brought back a lot of old memories from my teenage years. Her performance in this concert was pretty good too because I remember seeing a previous concert of hers where she sounded like running out of breath at times. It seems like she was better prepared this time and handled every song very well or maybe it's just that she was more experienced in performing live this time around. Her 2nd and 3rd VCD's are my favorite as they have a lot of her popular slow love songs. I think it's very touching to see that her fans sang along to help her finishing one of the songs as she was crying and wasn't able to finish it.
Also, listening back to these old songs really make me appreciate some of the previous song writers more. The lyrics really told stories and well thought out in comparison with pop songs nowadays where they just repeatedly sing the few same words over and over again.
I really think she deserved to be more successful than she really was back in the days. But it's irrelevant to her now that she's a mom. She's still a cute girl for a woman her age. I love her dimples ;)
