    July 21, 2006 Could've been better Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
As I saw the track list for the album, I was confused. No collaboration, except the title song. Isn't this CD supposed to be a collaboration? I know that the entertainment industry in Korea is continuing to suffer, but this CD just seems like a compilation or something. You know, a Korean version of NOW's, except it's all SM entertainment. It's a pity because SM Town is supposed to be like a way to make newer singers known by having them work with popular, established singers. It felt more like a display case of SM's most popular artists right now, BoA, Kangta, SuJu, TVXQ, CSZH, The TRAX, etc... There's so many people crammed in to the song that half the time, I can't tell who's singing. The only artist that's new to me (and I'm pretty sure she's been around for a while) was Hyun-jin. The songs individually were great- there's no denying it. And I got in to BLACKBEAT because of their song "Shake" in this album (although they'd been around for a while). The tracks alone are great, but I feel like the purpose of the album has been ignored.

    December 28, 2005 All I can Say... Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I almost started to worry that Korean music industry will be dominated by one kind of genre before I found Epik High. I was almost afraid that the handful of awesome song writers that Korea has would be influenced by the same old lyrics. However, in Epik High I found meaningful songs that flows beautifully. I used to hate hip-hop because I felt like it lost a lot in essense and was molded in to what the "moneymakers" wanted it to sound like.

Epik High's lyrics are suprisingly profound and colorful. There's always some kind of a variety. But you do noticed something else. They don't talk about a rich guy with all the beautiful girls and awesome cars. They don't talk about how tough their neighborhood was. They don't talk about pretty people hooking up in the club. They talk about ordinary people and ordinary events in ordinary lives. They bring in surprising insights to what many would consider to be too "boring" to write about.

The variety would make the album appeal to many people. I have some tracks I really love and some I don't care much for. But when you listen to it, you should really listen. There were a couple of song I came to like a little bit later.

December 28, 2005 Still Skeptic Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I heard of Super Junior ever since I started watching a Korean hi-teen drama BanOleLim (Sharp#)where two members of this group star in, as well as SM actress Go Ara. I thought Super Junior would blow me away as TVXQ did with "HUGS"- showing that they're not just some pretty boys who can dance.

All that TWINS (knock-out) proved to me was that either that SM Entertainment's long reign as the masters of the industry was ending or that Super Junior really is a group of pretty boys who can dance. Usually, most SM artists start off with a couple of good singles or albums.

I felt that TWINS (knock-out) really kept Super Junior from showing off much talent because there's no way they would stink like this if they beat 1 to 8000 (or something like that) odds. They seemed more like a dance group then a singing group to me. The only interesting thing about them was the fact that there are so many members and not enough distinction for me to tell quite a few of them apart from each other.

Not that Super Junior is absolutely horrible or something. It's just that I'm still very skeptical from the first album. Some of them actually sounded pretty good in "Show Me Your Love" (a much better song for a new artist) but others made me doubt.

December 28, 2005 What's Going on in SM Town? Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I was anticipating Super Junior to exceed, or atleast reach the same level of vocal maturity that TVXQ surprised me with when they came out with "HUGS". Being I wasn't too crazy about SM artists (H.O.T., SES, Shinhwa back when they weren't with GoodEntertainment) I was genuinly surprised at TVXQ's appearance and expected more from Super Junior.

Apparently, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up too high. I heard "TWINS (knock-out)" and felt that SM Enterntainment was loosing their touch. They usually come out with really awesome debut albums and good title songs, but it felt like Super Junior was not a group of singers, but a group of dancers. There were one or two good voices in there somewhere, but they reminded me of a super-sized N'Sync on a bad day. The song itself, especially, felt like a "bad teenage poetry" (no offense to anyone, just a term...)

This song was slightly better, although I have to point out that SM hasn't had much songs where the broken bits of Konglish makes sense. I think it suit Super Junior's voices much better, because you can definitely hear some harmonies in this song. Some of them actually aren't that bad, but they're overshadowed by TVXQ's already-established, already-famous vocals. Then some members made me think of atleast 5 people from my quite, boring suburban high school who can sing better then them.

The music video was cute, but it seemed like, "Hey, all 16 of us are buddy-buddies, so all you Casseopeias should be cheering for us." It wasn't so much a launching pad as a giant Jumbo Jet trying to lift Super Junior up to stardom. Regretfully, I'm afraid that this strategy worked from the looks of the SM Town message boards.

This same tactic has been used in TVXQ's past, when they performed with BoA singing "O Holy Night". Now, I'm a big TVXQ fan but that song kinda turned me off at first. And then I heard "Hugs" and "My Little Princess" and was convinced. I think that all Super Junior really needed was a good solid single album that showed off their vocals rather then their dancing skills.
