An evergreen J-Pop classic
| My Little Lover burst upon the J-Pop scene with the irresistably catchy chorus from their first single, "Man & Woman" (track 9), then followed up that initial success with this solid album of sparkling pop confections. Beautifully recorded with a terrific horn section and singer Akko's spot-on vocals, the album "Evergreen" more than a decade still sounds great; it truly is an evergreen disk. My personal favorite is the inebriating track 6, "My Painting", which is as close to pop perfection as we are likely to hear in this world. The album closes with the soaring title track, which pointed the way to a sound that My Little Lover captured brilliantly on a couple subsequent albums. I never grow tired of this fine album. |
