Not bad for a Wong Jing film Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
"Everyday is Valentine" has many of the hallmarks of a typical Wong Jing movie. Wong definitely has mastered the pacing of a comic film.

Like most Wong films, the story is simple and not much thought is given to character development. (For example, no reason is apparent for why Leon Lai's character is a compulsive liar.) And like most Wong films, the movie feels as if it has been made on the fly. (Wouldn't most directors have corrected the scene filmed in HK's Central District in which it is difficult to hear Cecilia's and Leon's conversation over all of the street noise?)

The movie is watchable largely due to the charm of the central characters. The viewer wants to see Leon Lai "go straight" and win Cecilia's heart and wants to see Cecilia find her Prince Charming. Both actors manage to breathe life into their rather superficially drawn characters. Cecilia Cheung in particular is lovely and winning throughout this film.

As Wong Jing films go, this one is solid entertainment, but Wong never aims very high. If your expectations are modest, "Everyday is Valentine" will deliver a diverting evening.

By the way, several other reviewers have commented on bad language in the movie. Since I cannot speak Cantonese, I was unaware of it; it does not show up in the English subtitles.

waste of time and money Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
it is no surprise that this is a wong jing movie. just the characters' dirty dialogue, it's a wong jing movie. this movie is very boring and the story is pitiful. even the characters names are not creative. who will name themselves 'wonderful' and 'OK', these are not names, these are adjectives. it sounds weird to name someone these 'words' that are not names. wong jing, in the behind-the-scenes shots, says that this movie is a love story saying that if people have faith and fate that anything is possible... yada yada yada... talk amongst yourselves... oh puleaz! give us a break! this movie is boring as hell and the dirty dialogue is cheap. this was a total waste of time and esp. a waste of money!

DON'T BUY VCD Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I AM SO SORRY I BOUGHT THE VCD VERSION
THE MOVIE IS HILARIOUS AND REALLY MAKES ME LAUGH WHICH IS A GOOD THING AT THE END OF ANY ROUGH DAY.
BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE VCD VERSION
I PLAYED IT ON ONE DVD PLAYER AND THE FIRST DISC WAS MOSTLY ORANGE IN COLOR AND THE SECOND VCD WOULD NOT PLAY AT ALL. WENT TO MY LITTLE BACK UP DVD PLAYER . THE COLOR IMPROVED AND THE SECOND DISC PLAYED BUT THE QUALITY OF THE WHOLE PICTURE IS JUST SO SO.
