Don't miss this lovely film! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
"Failan" astonishes by delivering a powerful romance in which the two romantic leads never actually meet. How is that possible? You will just have to watch it to see.

"Failan" is a movie about paths not taken in one's life and the sorrow that follows upon the realization of what one has missed by not taking those paths. We all have had such experiences and, consequently, this film has a universal message.

Choi Min Sik and Cecilia Cheung both will touch your heart with their honest performances. But the real star here is director Song Hae Sung, who masterfully solves the puzzle of how to tell this story in such a moving manner.

I have downgraded this version of the film slightly for presenting the movie in fullscreen format. Particularly in the early scenes, it is annoying to see people chopped off by the edge of the screen. Widescreen format would have served the film better. Don't be deterred by this minor failing; "Failan" is too good to miss. I recommend it very, very highly.

This is a real full drama. Full of action, love, hatred and it has a heart. I am not surprise that this turned out pretty well as Choi Min Sik is a real good actor. Cecilia Cheung complimented it with her flawless acting as a chinese girl married to a korean only to have proper papers. The story is really touched your heart. You'll like until the end. A movie you should not miss.

failan is the most moving movie i have ever saw,and the sadest korean drama ever,i'm not lying when i say that "failan" is a masterpiece,if you don't cry at the end of this movie it means that your heart is made of stone,there is one particular scene in the movie when the character played by choi min sik is reading a letter send by failan,he is sitting next to the sea in a harbour,my god this scene is really heartbreaking,the actors are perfect(choi min sik / cecilia cheung),the story is so touching and the director is really gifted,the ost is wonderful too. A MUST SEE KOREAN MOVIE

VERRY GOOD SAD DRAMA MOVIE,DEEPLY TOUCHING Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
FAILAN same as most Korean's drama movie without
"HAPPY ENDING". But it not mean bad or negative one,it a fact of life, CHOI MIN SIK as a thug,stone-heart willing do any thing for living.Some how he had to quit and decided return home after reading all last letters never send to him from "his wife" (The Chinese girl from CHINA he married for Money,paid by some crooks.And she had to work hard to pay off her Debt
"Marriage-connection fee"to them.)After she died deeply in side him some felling about LOVE growing back!!!was it too late???
.....And what happened to him after that ????? I do not want spoil your VERRY GOOD SAD MOVIE.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND :DO NOT MISS ANY..ANY "CHOI MIN SIK" movies.CHI-HUA-SEON (Chi-hua-sun):If you like ARTs Water collor PaintingOLD BOY:Drama+Action+Meaningfull story ,HAPPY END:Love affair, SPRING TIME : Music Teacher with his students...

VERRY GOOD SAD ENDING DRAMA MOVIE,Deeply touching Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
There alot misundertood when we think Cecilia Cheung was a main cast of story (she just supporting actress
for Choi Min Sik)and make sure we not watched bootleg
copy DVD that why she not on screen all the time as the "OLD KOREAN DIRTY LOOKING ACTOR"(I just repeat exactly some one opinion)It really made my laugh out loud when read this.Thank you some one gave me the best
momment at that time,even Choi Min Sik was MY BEST
favourite MOVIE-STAR.
Another question about "mismatched" their ages:There a set up marriage,he get pay for it and she become his wife a legal immigrant worked hard making money to pay the debt for those thugs...
MOST OUTSTANDING KOREAN'S FILM was CREATED by one of these DIRECTOR and "The old Korean dirty looking actor"
Please check out some of his movie:CHI-HWA-SEON,SPRING TIME,OLD BOY,HAPPY END...
Another question why at most end of movie he made a trip to that town :TO CONFIRMED and pick up his wife's body.SO there NO CONFUSE at all ,I hope CHOI MIN SIK
from now on no more "Confuse"by these questions

This was a very beautiful movie but it was just SO SO deep. It hurts your insides. It was just a little too real. It will just rip you insides in and out. Beware!

Could not understand why cecilia will take this job to act as a such a girl in Korea. Couldn't understand why the scriptwriter will choose this topic for the movie. If there is no Cecilia in the film, the whole movie will be a rubbish. If you think about, a gangster, a girl from China, fake marriage, then they love each other even without meeting each other, crazy script, unreasonable, what is the meassge the scriptwriter and the director want to deliver? Crazy? Next time, only a good enough film would match Ceci. Maybe the story has been happened in real life, but why it worth to mention? Why we need to spend two hours to see it? Korean's brain is having problem. Everyday, we have thousand of crazy idea flashed in our mind, should all this become a film. Very very very very bad script. Advise Ceci don't work with them next time, ruin your career.

oh i watched this movie last night with my husband. we cried and laughed. Its so great, the actress is so pretty reminds me of me when i was young.

[preshuz..?!] must be a pretty stupid kid. the movie wasn't supposed to be one featuring ultraaction and hot korean pop stars. you idiot. the movie is one of the most touching movies you'll see, amazing in every way.
