The best of Ayumi!
The best of Ayumi!
| I started listening to her songs a few years ago and I noticed that her style has changed BUT in a good way! Not only did she improve on her singings but her fabulous voice along with the unique music in her songs really brings out Ayumi's real talent! In this newest song "Fairyland" Ayumi took me by surprise by how smoothe her voice sang through the entire song. I really recommend this song to all Ayumi fans and I can't wait until her next album comes out!!! |

| To tell you the truth, I never liked much of Ayu's songs until hearing her album My Story. And this single only satisfied that new hunger! These are REAL good quality songs. Not to mention the cover looks really pretty. I used to think she was ugly, but she's turning into a more beautiful woman now. With that, don't even hesitate to buy this single! It's great! |

Summer Ayumi!
Summer Ayumi!
| Having become a Hamasaki Ayumi fan over a period of about five years now, I've sadly come to realize that Ayumi's work for the past 3 has been on a serious decline in originality. The techno-but-ballad-savvy Ayu seems to be disappearing with the more techno-pop ballads she releases. If you aren't listening to the lyrics, the songs eventually start to blur. "fairyland" is going to take a while to grow on me because it reminds me of too many of her previous upbeat singles in sound, and the lyrics are boring. But so far as the second new track, "alterna," this is TRULY a new amazing song for Ayumi! Picking up where her "MY NAME" album left off with the heavy rock feeling and a 'You think you know me, but you really don't know me at all' attitude, this moderately paced rock ballad mixes all of Ayumi's vocal best with sharp lyrics, impressive electric guitar, and an even more impressive overall arrangement. As the song reaches its climax, the violins and the computer "far-away" effect on Ayu's voice are exceptional. The video is cliche rock stuff, but is appropriate to show you what she is singing about if you do not understand Japanese. If you loved "STEP you" before, then this remix will make you love it even more! The reggae edge that has been fused with "STEP you" is not only perfect, it's shockingly adorable with Ayumi's original vocals! I don't normally dance to Ayumi's music, but this might be my one exception! It's the perfect summer release. The "fairyland" mix is average Ayumi material, but incorporates a bit more House and the usual Techno. Hamasaki Ayumi fans can rejoice that Ayu has returned, and newcomers can enjoy this well-balanced single. |

a DEFINITE must BUY
| Of the two singles released so far this year, I think this is totally a must buy! Every single track is awesome. My favourite track overall would have to be alterna. This song is deep and symbolic, often resembles Ayumi herself. The remixes are awesome, although not as good as her past ones, they are still not bad. The two PVs are awesome, making you enjoy every second of it. Not to mention the 'making of fairyland' sort of allows you to get to know ayu more. |

Just beautiful
| I've heard every song in the single, I'd have to say, this is the most worthy single to buy out of all Ayumi's singles of the past 2 years. If you love Ayumi, buy this, the songs and remix are great :) [fairyland was below my expectation, the PV changed my thoughts on it tho], the PVs are great >D better buy the CD+DVD version. alterna's is deep and symbolic....for those who like those kind of PVs. Enjoy! Buy it! :) I totally did. |

| This single is a must-have for any Ayumi Hamasaki fan, or even people who aren't familiar with her. It starts off with Fairyland, an upbeat summer song, then it goes on to Alterna, an irresistible rock song. Also, for the first time in a while, Ayumi has released two Remixes on this single! The STEP you Remix is has a cool almost Jamaican or Tropical feel to it. The Fairyland Remix is fast and fun, but it still keeps Fairyland's smooth charm! Also, in my opinion, the cover for the CD-Only version of this single is a bit more beautiful than the CD+DVD version. This single is amazing, and it is expected to be a smash hit! Trust me, you should order it straight away, I know I sure did! |

Ayu's best year
| I think 2005 is ayu's best year. She just got back at the "queen of asian music" position thanks to her smashing hitalbum "MY STORY". Then she released a double A single called "STEP you / is this LOVE?". That single was the most succesful Ayu-single in 2 years! Now it's like 100% sure that THIS single "fairyland c/w alterna" is easily gonna beat this. Fairyland will break all records. And when she's done with this, a new single "HEAVEN" awaits us as the theme song of mega-success-movie "Shinobi". |
