Chow Sun-to rests his hope in becoming a trade dealer of a new Japanese potent drug to pay off his debts and revive his fortune. Getting wind of the pharmacy specialists' forthcoming visit, Chow takes his staff Chan Yuen-lan to meet them personally at the hotel. Unbeknownst to the broke investor, the Japanese side has probed his company and returns to Japan immediately after entrusting a letter addressed to Chow to the hotel attendant Cheung Wah. Eager to fish in troubled waters, Cheung's co-worker Braggart So presses Wah to pose as the experts as he does. Wah attends the dinner banquet thrown by Chow and meets again his old lover, Chan, whom he cannot bear to lie to. Wah leaves dejectedly, followed by a host of creditors to the hotel where his disguise is duly exposed. Wah hands the letter to Chow, who, waking from his pipe dream, is steered out of troubles by his father-in-law. Cheung and Chan embrace their second chance at love.
