Amazing Collection Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I've had this for years but never reviewed so I thought I'd drop my comments on it~

I came across this by accident a few years ago and thought "6 disks, for that price? DAMN I'm buying that xD".

The reason I think Luke felt misled is a misunderstanding of the term KPop. KPop doesn't mean Korean Pop music, it means Korean Popular Music, i.e. anything non-trad, and the charts were dominated by RnB, Hip Hop and Dance tunes at this time, rather than the influx of Bubblegum pop we've had in recent years. If it's bubblegum, poppy Krn stuff you're after, then this CD set is NOT for you.

Luke- you sound like my grandfather, going on about how the rap and the beats would give you a migraine. Wth. If you don't like that kind of music, why buy it? It's obvious from the reviews before yours [and the references to dance & hiphop in the tracklist] what kind of music it is, so you should've read them and avoided it.

And not all rap inspires hatred and violence, that's a truly ridiculous stereotype. And no one said rap is music, because it isn't, it's pretty much rhythmic speech. But just because you don't appreciate it, doesn't make it crap. I wouldn't listen to whole songs that are just rap but I think rap passages in songs breaking up the singing parts can actually benefit a song and add contrast and diversity.

Yes, the girls often belt to quite high notes in some of the songs, it is a common feature on Kpop from this era. They aren't screaming, and if you can't tell the difference then that's poor hearing on your part, not lack of talent on theirs. Kelly Clarkson belts to high notes like this too. It's just a different style, and it requires a lot of control and power to belt that high.

The fact that you use Britney Spears as an example of good music explains a lot. But whatever. Pretty much every review in here is positive anyway so I doubt you'll deter many people from buying this.

Anyway. There's a LOAD of awesome songs on here, and a load of great artists I'd never even heard of before.
It's a really awesome CD with some old favourites like HOT and SES and a lot of lesser known artists you're unlikely to find anywhere else, and even better- EVERY song has the lyrics in the booklet [some of these songs, there aren't even hangeul lyrics online for them, and songs like HOT- Candy lyrics always have sections missing, but the full lyrics are included in this set]. The inclusion of hangeul lyrics makes it even better [it's not hard to learn to read&write hangeul ^^], the MV's are a nice addition but the price is worth it for the CDs alone.

As previously mentioned, the set is dominated by RnB, Hip Hop, Dance etc with a few ballads and poppier tracks [but not many], and there's obviously some rap too, so if you only like pop stuff there's only a few tracks that will appeal to you, like HOT- Candy and the SES tracks, BoA tracks etc.

My favourite tracks on the 4 main disks were~
Disk 1: tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 16, 18
Disk 2: 1, 2, 7, 9, 12, 14, 18
Disk 3: 1, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18
Disk 4: 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 14, 16
[Disk 5 is just a mix of 1-2 minute excerpts from the songs on the other 4 disks in 4 non-stop mixes]

Highly recommended. If it comes back in stock, be sure to snap it up quick.<3

WONDERFUL Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Well, you might never know until you have actually listened to the whole selections the second time as there are a number of songs that have been translated to Mandarin/Cantonese numbers by artists from the East. For instance, ALEX TO's CLOTHES OFF! When I first listened to that number, I knew it must be from Korea and true enough, I finally found it here. It makes me feel so happy on this search! A MUST BUY!!!!!!

Bargain!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
So many great songs from the old days. It seems like K-Pop was on a high during 1996-2001 era (the years from when these tunes on the CD were taken) Really brings back memories. Even if you do not like some songs, due to the sheer amount on offer there are others you will definately enjoy =)

This has a MTV VCD with a decent variety of artists.

In response to Luke... (I can't resist responding!) If you don't like rap, don't buy a rap CD!! Your logic is... Outstanding!! There are maybe 1 or 2 rap songs in this CD maximum. The rest is K-Pop, Ballads, Techno-style songs or Pop with a hip-hop beat.

For the price how can you go wrong?? Plus a lot of the songs are out of print/impossible to find.

Its good, not the best but good Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
As luke said, there are good songs, not 2 but more than that. These songs are awesome. Its a good 23 dollar spent if you want a taste of the different genres of Kpop/HipHop/Dance, ETC. People are entitled to their own opinions of this MUSIK. i think its good, considering I am not Korean. =)

Disregard my previous review Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I changed my opinion on this "music" collection after going back and hearing all the songs that sounded good at first listen. After hearing the songs play all the way out, they all suck! No, I take that back, there are 2 songs that are good. Other then those 2 ther rest are just awful.

The music is very decieving. At first they sound very good, like a Britney Spears type song. But then half way through the song or by the first chorus, out of the no where, all this screaming or rap crap blairs in ruining the entire song. Totally taking away the mood of the song, knocking you right out of it, thinking, "what the h????"

And this is every song! I truly hate mainstream rap, it sends out hateful messages of bitter resentment toward others, promoting violence. And as for other rap, I dont like it anymore. I do not understand how anyone could consider rap musik at all. It's just apalling.

So this entire thing was an immense waste of hard-earned money. I highly suggest everyone avoids getting this unless of course you are looking for an extreme migraine. This "musik" will easily leave anyone with a dreadful migraine for days.

Amazing. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is an incredible omnibus. Anyone and everyone who's thinking of starting a Korean music collection should get this. I've never seen so much variety in a music package in any language, and certainly not for a bargain-basement $23. A genuine yesasia.com must-have!

official Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
these cds I got today. It is amazing. The 6th disc the ending credits is a song from lion king. it is really funny. All the cds are good.the dance mixes were not what I expected them to be. They were better. The only thing is 2 or 3 of the songs suck really bad. other than that it is great. except you can only listen to dreams come true by ses on disc 6.

You've gotta bbuy this diverse compilation.
There's soooo many songs. You'll love some and hate others, but it's worth it. Don't miss this chance to sample many of Korea's best artists.
