This tragic love story tells the story of Zi Ling whose elder sister Luu Ping is inseparably bonded to the charming Chu Lian. What nobody knows is that Chu Lian secretly is in love with Zi Ling!
Luu Ping and Chu Lian's happiness is overshadowed by a disastrous accident that leaves Luu Ping crippled. In order to bear all responsibilities Chu Lian decides to marry Luu Ping. During all these terrible events Yun Fan who has always put an eye on Zi Ling asks for her hand and takes her to Paris. Moved by all this Zi Ling is finally willing to accept Yun Fan's marriage proposal.
After Zi Ling returns to Taiwan after one year, she finds the life of her family members in total disorder

多少秘密在其中，欲訴無人能懂！
窗外深露重，窗內閒愁難送；
多少心事寄無從，化作一簾幽夢！
一個愛夢想又多愁善感的紫菱。她的夢中有楚濂，然而她的姐姐綠萍和楚濂卻是眾人認定的一對金童玉女。但原來楚濂心裡愛的卻是妹妹紫菱。
當楚濂欲帶綠萍去小森林的途中，卻不幸遇上交通意外，令到綠萍殘廢，楚濂為了要負責任而決定和綠萍結婚。紫菱在痛苦不堪的時候，雲帆卻向她求婚，帶她遠離傷心地到巴黎去。紫菱被雲帆的誠意打動，終於答應求婚。雲帆的無微不至令到紫菱樂在其中，過著開心的日。
一年後，紫菱得知她的父母要離婚，要回台灣探望父母。回到台灣，重見楚濂，得知他和綠萍的婚姻不如意，並打算離婚。紫菱為了要挽救父母和綠萍的婚姻，決定要留下來面對一切。
在楚濂的苦苦痴纏之下，紫菱屢次與他相見，令到雲帆很生氣。最後楚濂和綠萍離了婚。而雲帆在傷心失望的心情之下決定要離開紫菱，紫菱在雲帆離開之後才知道自己愛的原來是雲帆，決定要去找雲帆。最後紫菱究竟能不能找到雲帆與他共此一簾幽夢呢……

wonderful adaoption of Roy Liu

The highlight of this serie is of course Roy Liu's character, he was an elegant and kind gentleman who was very in love. I am not sure I would like to have such a gentleman as a husband, since I profer an indenpendet life style where I have a enough space to define my own normality. But I love to watch how he explained all important lessons of life to his young bride, everytime she was sad and confused. |

Just bought it and already loving it! I already read the novel many times and always wanted to watch the series since then. Although I don't understand Chinese, I still like to watch it. I just really wish this version could have English subtitle, so people who don't understand Chinese like me could really enjoy it. Please release it with English subtitle!! |

Low Resulution Picture Quality

This is a wonderful series of Qiong Yao combining her two novels - Lang Hua & Yi Lian You Meng. However, this particular set of DVD do not have the quality of true DVD. The picture is too fuzzy & beautiful theme/background music sometimes omitted. Other Yesasia Qiong Yoa's VCD have sharper and clearer picture quality than this China version's DVD. |

Must see series of Qing Yao's novel

I saw this mini-series several years ago & I always wanted to see it again. Some people might find it dragging & pointless, but I liked it very much, the theme songs were really nice too. It's nice to see late 90's Taiwan mini-series. I'm going to buy this & add it to my collections of Qing Yao's novel turn-into-mini series. |

A tortuous love triangle

Xiao Qiang as Luu Ping has a character change midway in the drama and she portrays her anger and jealousy exceedingly well. Chen De Rong's character seems to be wavering between Chu Lian and Yun Fan. Looks like Chu Lian, torn between two sisters, is being punished a little unreasonably, first from Luu Ping's torture and then rejection by Zi Ling. |
