I have to say that this movie turned into my favourite movie of all time. I remember seeing it the first time on tv and taped it. But Love it too much and bought the DVD. Leung Kai Fei's role is perfect. I wish to be him. Of course the ending with Michelle is a dream come true. But the music bring so much flavour to Leung Kai Fei's character. Fill with romance and charm. Definitely pushed me to buy a camera after haha. I wish that character is real so that i can aspire to be him. |

"Fear of Intimacy" is a character study about a self-involved photographer who uses and tramples on the women who care about him, with seeming disregard for the feelings of those women until they leave him. Tony Leung Ka Fai convincingly inhabits the role of the selfish paparazzi. Michelle Saram vividly portrays a young woman who aspires to follow in the footsteps of Tony Leung's paparazzi character; the camera loves both her physical beauty and the great energy she brings to this role. The film's story unfolds in nonlinear fashion, with somewhat mystifying scenes followed sequentially in the film by the chronological events that led up to the baffling scenes. It leads to a series of revelatory moments for the viewer that spur the viewer's continued interest. You feel like you are pulling together the pieces of a puzzle as you watch. Unfortunately, I found the film's resolution to be unsatisfying. I don't want to give away the ending, so I'll say only that I was unconvinced that the film's events would lead Tony Leung's character to this point. Nonetheless, I recommend the film for its fine performances, innovative storytelling technique, and atmospheric imagery. |
