Utada Hikaru was planning to release a remix single for her smash-hit "Distance" right after the album "Distance" back in March. However, not long ago, a mentally disturbed man brutally killed a couple of little kids at school in Osaka which caused great sadness in Japan and in Utada. She rewrote the lyrics in "Distance," which becomes "Final Distance," to commemorate this tragic incident.

Okay first off for that Sean guy... Please type stuff like you're educated, especially if Miss Utada DOES read these things. Also, she's not OLD at all. She's only about 23. Besides, she's married pal. Sorry. Anyway, I heard about the shooting incident through a page of comments in an mp3 rotation community in LJ. I thought it was the sweetest thing a person could do. Remake a song of theirs to dedicate it to a fangirl. Very nice. I love both songs, DISTANCE and Final DISTANCE. They're subtle and sweet. The remixes are fun to listen to, also. Good work. Miss Utada, if you do read these things (like that Sean guy said) please understand that you have MANY fans around the world and we do read up on you. Why have you halted your university career? I understand that singing is a love of your life, and I did read somewhere that you will have something to fallback on when you decide to leave the music industry, but that'll take a while to get after. Do what many other young artists do - go to school + sing at the same time. Your schedule will be cramped, but it'll be worth it. Trust me. A lot of people look up to you. ^^ If you stay in school, a lot of people may follow you. Thanks. |

Hope i can see you in personal Hikki...i really adore you!!!i first heard your song "First Love" and i was amazed and curius of the voice and the song. when i saw my aunts MD (mini disc). it says "utada hikaru" and "first love" boy just at that moment i searched the internet and found you!!!! Wow!!!
| I went to a shop and they were playing Final Distance, and I asked them what it was. They sold me the album and I absolutly love it!!! The music is wonderful! I simply cant stop listening to it, and I have recited all of the words! |
