First love & Other Pains (Hong Kong Version) VCD

A touching and optimistic entreaty on an unlikely homosexual relationship, First Love & Other Pains is an adventurous and even sweet short film from Hong Kong director Simon Chung. Taking place in post-Handover Hong Kong, the film tells the tale of Mark (Alex Wong), a young college student who develops an attraction to his middle-aged English Literature Professor Hugh (Edmond Strode). The initial attraction is enough to lead to a torrid sexual encounter, but with the discovery of love come other difficult, unforeseen issues. Hugh's classroom becomes an uncomfortable and tense place for the two to meet, and the affair awakens feelings of doubt and self-loathing in the alcoholic Englishman. Can two completely different people from two no longer connected cultures find love amongst the ruins? Director Simon Chung brings sensitivity and emotional idealism to First Love & Other Pains, an uncommon love story that transcends its classification as "gay cinema".

Mark strikes up a friendship with the depressed, alcoholic - but well-preserved middle-aged man and they fuck in the bathtub one drunken night. Hugh tries to push Mark away, but the youth is persistent is his quest. Will Mark be able to prove his love? Is it too late for Hugh to find happiness?
