YesAsia Editorial Description
The raw, powerful fighting skills of Bruce Lee have never been so potently portrayed as in Fist of Fury! This classic tale of a student avenging his master's death rises to higher cinematic levels thanks to its charged setting of 1908 Shanghai, when Japanese-Chinese tensions were at their most explosive. Chen Zhen (Bruce Lee) arrives back in Shanghai to attend the funeral of his master, famed boxer Ho Yuan Chia, founder of the Ching Wu Martial Arts School. Days later, the grieving school receives an anti-Semitic message from the Japanese Association, and Chen Zhen storms over to vent his pent-up fury. His actions spark a power struggle in Shanghai, which is further complicated by the shocking revelation that his master was poisoned! Flying fists and flailing bodies are the result of Chen Zhen's righteous fury in Fist of Fury, an emotional and exhilarating kung-fu drama that showcases Bruce Lee at his absolute best!

Don't mess with the Ching Wu School!
|
I was hesitant to purchase this version of "Fist of Fury" because I'd never before encountered its publisher, Guangdong Yin Xiang Chu Ban She. While this version has its flaws, it is by far the best edition I've seen of this martial arts classic. Any fans of the genre already know the story by heart: Chen Zhen (Bruce Lee) returns to his Shanghai martial arts school to find that his master has died and the school is being shamed by its Japanese rival. After Chen gives the Japanese school a piece of his mind (and his fists and his feet), he decides to go it alone as he seeks to defend his school and find out what really happened to his master. Inevitably, it leads to a battle royale between Chen, the Japanese, and a big mean Russian galoot. Director and screenwriter Lo Wei does a nice job of casting this main story against the broader canvas of the oppression of the powerless Chinese people at the hands of their foreign occupiers. But, of course, the real attraction of this film is not its story nor its sometimes hammy acting, but the brutal artistry of Bruce Lee's unparalleled fighting skills. And all of those skills are captured brilliantly in "Fist of Fury". The image quality of this DVD mostly is excellent. It appears that the master print from which this remastered version is drawn had some damage at the beginning of each reel. Intermittently, when each new reel starts, the image goes grainy for a few moments, but quite quickly becomes sharp again. The sound quality is excellent; Bruce's shrieks and squawks have never sounded better. The English subtitles are spotty, but this ain't Shakespeare so it doesn't much matter. "Fist of Fury" definitely deserves its great reputation and I've never seen it look this good before. I plan on buying the same video producer's release of "The Big Boss". |

best bruce lee movie
|
This is simply the most complete and satisfying bruce lee Movie there is. The story is all about revenge. And Bruce does some pretty nasty stuff to get back at them, but you are cheering him throughout the movie because Bruce is the Man. He is just oozing with fire and charisma and the fighting scenes are guaranteed to blow your mind. I fist viewed this movie in Chinese, then I saw the English dubbed one and wanted to light myself on fire because the English version even erased Bruce's trade mark screams. Instead the English actor yelled things like"HiYA!" when attacking someone. What were those American film distributers thinking? Anyway, now I finally get a DVD with Mandarin/Cantonese as spoken language. I don't understand a single word of Chinese but the way bruce speaks it is awesome! |

My Review
| Bruce Lee, in my eyes, is the most amazing martial artist that i have ever watched. His movements are like a spider on a checker board, thats the only way i can think of how to put it in words. I have taken Tae Kwon Do for alomst four years and im 18 years of age, and im closing in on my blackbelt. I enjoy martial arts alot and i can't stress enough the superior fighing ability that Bruce has and i send deepest regrets for what happend. Thank you for this wonderful website. |

Fists of Fury (2nd Ver.)
| It's great, except for the fact that you're not able to access the secret area with Lee, Siu Lung birthday, because there isn't any secret area. |
