Explosive sequel
|
"Five Shaolin Masters" has a paper-thin plot that serves primarily as a device for the staging of some spectacular fight scenes. Ti Lung, David Chiang, and Alexander Fu all deliver solid performances. I strongly suggest that, before watching this film, you watch its predecessor ("Shaolin Temple") which will help to flesh out some of the characters for you. This may be the first movie I've ever seen that doesn't have any women characters; the only women I saw in it were extras in a street scene. Recommended for all lovers of Chang Cheh's action extravaganzas. |

Five shaolin master is a good movie. I still prefer the Lau Kar Leung movie ( 36th chambers, 8 diagram...) than this effort by Chang Cheh. But the all star cast and good story makes a good film and a true Kung fu classic. |

5 final fighting scenes for the price of 1

Those who like Chang Cheh films will like this too. The 5 heroes combating one to one each is memorable and exiting. This one is special because the original actor of "Fong Sai Yuk" Meng Fei is in and among the 5 and he only acted for 1 Shaw Bros film. |

5 Shaolin Masters

As in most of Chang Cheh's directed movies, it is obvious that the main lead is still his favourite David Chiang. Ti Lung, Fu Sheng, Chi Kwang Juan and Meng Fei are playing the supporting roles. Overall, still ok for pleasure watching. |
