Hailed as "Taiwan's Crazy Stone", Golden Bell Award-winning director Wang Chi Tsai's debut film Formosa Mambo garnered much praise from the film festivals in Kaohsiung, Taipei, and San Francisco. The hilarious caper comedy is inspired by the rampant phenomenon of telephone and Internet scams in Taiwan, and takes a swipe at the island's severe socioeconomic inequality between different classes, giving audiences an entertaining and thought-provoking satire filled with black humor and unexpected plot twists.

A-chung (Yang Tsung Hua), a blue-collar worker unemployed for so long he is forced to try his luck at kidnapping. One day, he and his partners have taken a boy named George who they believe comes from a filthy rich family. They demand his mother (Felicia Huang) to pay a ransom of NTD3 million dollars, but their call is dismissed as a prank. Unbeknownst to them, their call is intercepted by a team of real con men including former white-collar executive A-kuang (Chu Chung Heng), who got laid off in the financial crisis and, in despair, vowed to make a fortune no matter what. A high-speed race for the ransom ensues!
