"The Foul King" is an immensely entertaining film about a bank clerk who is a failure at his job, a loser in his love life, and is disrespected by his father. Discouraged by his life, he seeks escape (and perhaps some added toughness) by showing up at a wrestling club. He resists attempts by the club owner to discourage him from pursuing wrestling and eventually emerges as the "Foul King", a wrestler who competes by trying to break every rule in the game. In truth, the movie probably has too many moving parts. By showing the Foul King's relationship with his father, relationships with his coworkers, troubles with his boss, affections for the office cutie, etc., there are too many themes at play and few of them are developed adequately, leading to some jarring transitions. However, "The Foul King" all comes together through the strikingly vivid performance of Song Kang Ho as the stumbling, bumbling everyman, with his absurd dreams of glory as a professional wrestler. His tragicomic character is a classic. "The Foul King" is recommended highly for a general audience. |

This movie is great! I saw this late at night once on TV and really got hooked on it, the main character is great and you really start to get right behind him, a couple of fantastic, "classic" comedy scenes, but just a really great movie! |

Very entertaining movie. If you want a wrestling movie, go elsewhere because this movie only has about 3 matches. The charming aura of the total film will keep you watching and even rooting for the main character at the end of the movie. |
