Love, lust and jealousy abound among the olive groves of a Mediterranean island where music means more than life itself. The island's colourful community exists in the shadow of a late great composer who has left behind a grieving window, a mysterious lover and an unheard composition.
Larry is an American piano player, painfully aware of his own modest talents, who has drifted through life never quite fulfilling his ambitions. He has one last master plan up his sleeve, to stage a huge tribute concert to the great musician. But his grand design is thwarted at every turn by the interference of each and every one of the eccentric villagers around him.
Trying to please them all, Larry tiptoes between Veronique, the composer's headstrong widow, Helena, the great man's seductive muse, and Miranda, his own highly-strung girlfriend who is convinced he is having an affair. A famous pianist flown in for the concert brings with him a rock-and-roll arrogance that causes ructions in the village. And money-mad Englishman Sebastian plots to take over the concert while fending cope off the comic meddling of his drunken younger brother Dickie.
But when Larry's long-lost teenage daughter rolls into town to find out just what kind of man her father really is, the stage is set for a series of dramatic revelations that lead to a concert more wonderful than Larry ever dreamed.
