A series of Grisly murders find a pair of detectives (Parker Posy and Adam Goldberg) tracking down a killer (Michael Madsen) who preys on unsuspecting victims. Their investigation leads to a mysterious figure. Deucalion (Vincent Perez), who we come to learn was the initial creation of Doctor Frankenstein three hundred years ago, and whom has lived ever since the shadows. More starting is the revelation that Doctor Frankenstein himself, now a prominent philanthropist know as Victor Hlios (Thomas Kretschmann) has been refining his technique of bringing the inanimate to life for over three centuries. His creatures, now far more sophisticated than his crude creation of Deucalion, are embedded in all strata of society, awaiting their master's bidding as he prepares to expand his influence by controlling the world. With Deucalion's help the detectives attempt to bring Helios to justice but must risk their lives to do so.
