Japan Alternative

Her songs are definitely J-Alternative Rock. FREE is not a bad song at all, but I think YUI would've sung it better. It is similar to YUI's songs. |

I liked the title track! =) I LOVE ERIKA'S VOICE! Simply put - it's sweet, soft, and lovely!! I don't like the other 2 tracks though. O.o they're very bad. I hope her next single will be better. This single hit the charts hard and I think it's because ERIKA has gotten tons of promotion as both a gravure idol and actress. I don't respect that..but I'm not reviewing ERIKA as a person...I'm reviewing her single, which is okay. I just expected better. Hmmmmmmmmm...I'm actually looking forward to her debut album most of all! I bet it'll be out mid-2008! I'll make sure I listen first before buying though. |

This is a very typical, very plain debut from ERIKA. She obviously gets her popularity from being a gravure idol. Her singing is NOT impressive in this single and all the tracks are very boring. Disappointment. I recommend YUI or ayaka if you like acoustic songs. Erika is just another pretty face with no talent. Definitely someone I wouldn't give a second listen. |

A friend recommended me to check out this single, after she heard it was #1 at the Oricon Charts. The only song I truly like is "FREE". I like the intro, I like the vocals: they fit the song exactly. However, "FANTASY", at first, sounded as a good song to me, but after listening to it, say, three times I already grew tired of the techno-voice and the crappy music. "Time to go home" is an okay song, good enough for a b-side. Not really my style, but it sure is better than "FANTASY". I'm still not sure what I think about her vocals in "Time to go home", because they somehow seem to not fit with the music, but still finds a way to blend in. More songs like "FREE", please. To be honest, I don't see why this single hit the top of the Oricon Charts and sold over 100,000 copies. Of course, it's the best way to debut as an artist, and I'm glad ERIKA has had this chance, but this single really doesn't deserve that much of attention. |

FREE is forever my favourite track on the single. It started with a strings of electric guitar similar to Mika Nakashima's NANA music style. It then builds up with nice upbeat drums melody. You couldnt help but to shake your head up and down. The chorus is powerful "Kimi ga iru dakede boku wa toberu yo", in english "when you are here, I can fly". Erikas vocals meld quite well with the instrumentals, giving a rather emotional performance. The rock elements are much stronger and evident; the music is edgier than "Taiyou no Uta". It is no surprise that the song top Oricon chart for weeks now. FANTASY reminds me of one of those electro trancey music of Hamasaki Ayumi, it was a good attempt by ERIKA, but it wasnt as good as the other 2 tracks. Time to go Home is the last track and wrap up ERIKA's debut single with a bang. It is a catchy pop-rock song with deep and heavy bass electric guitar. ERIKA's clear crystal voice complements well with dark atmosphere of the instruments. It was a bit stretchy with her "yeah yeah yeah", but the repettive chorus soon stuck in you head. It was a fun and upbeat music that you want to play first thing in the morning. |
