In the 1972 period action film Furious Slaughter, kung fu superstar Jimmy Wang Yu of One-Armed Swordsman fame plays the legendary folk hero Ma Yongzhen. Written and directed by Ting Shan Hsi (The Story of Dr. Sun Yat Sen), the kung fu spectacular is set in the early Republican era of China, when warlords and bandits made life difficult for the powerless people. At the time, refugees from everywhere flock to a small town in northern China, including this young and reckless boxer named Ma Yongzhen. He goes there to look for an old friend, only to learn that he has fallen victim to the local bully, Zhao, who runs the gambling and opium dens in town, not to mention forcing innocent girls into prostitution. Witnessing the evil deeds of Zhao and his henchmen, Ma feels the fire of rage burning inside his chest, and his invincible fists will make sure that justice is served.
