Agan, the director of Mainland parody hits Big Movie and Two Stupid Eggs, comes up with an audacious attempt at musical with his new film Gao Xing. Based on celebrated Chinese writer Jia Pingwa's novel of the same name, the film tells the inspirational and funny story of a kind-hearted bumpkin Gao Xing, who goes to the city and becomes a junkman in order to build a plane himself and, eventually, fly the Xi'an sky in his own plane. Gao Xing reunites Agan with his favorite actors Guo Tao (Crazy Stone) and Huang Bo (Crazy Racer), with additional star power in Mainland actresses Tian Yuan (Happy Funeral) and Miao Pu (The Beast Stalker), plus Hong Kong actors Lam Suet, Eddie Cheung, and Cheung Tat Ming. Playing a bunch of grassroots characters, the cast performs numerous song-and-dance sequences that spoof every music genre from Broadway to Bollywood.

Based on Jia Pingwa's novel of the same name "Gao Xing" is about a farmer, Liu Gao Xing who moves into the city and live his life as a junkman and coalwhipper. For the meantime, he falls in love sincerely with a girl who works in the hair salon. Although as a junkman, Liu Gao Xing finds his true passion in building airplanes. He builds a plane with bicycle which looks like a pigeon and he flies this "pigeon" off from the cliff of the Huang He River. His ultimate goal is to build a genuine airplane that can allow him to carry his dream and faith up above the sky of the city.
