解放前夕﹐東北某城市物價飛漲﹐國民黨統治者企圖把大量物資運往國外。腳行把頭馬八輩和兒子馬金龍乘機撈油水﹐扣發六號門搬運工的工錢。飢餓嚴重威脅著工人。當胡二之子鐵球因撿一點漏在地上的糧食而活活摔死后﹐工人們的憤怒上升到極點。他們由地下黨員引導﹐開始與封建把頭作鬥爭。在馬八輩的七十壽辰的壽讌上﹐工人胡二﹑丁佔元大鬧讌席﹐迫使馬八輩的父子發放積欠的工資。但把頭又強行逼迫工人給國民黨搬運“撤退物資”﹐六號門的工人義憤填膺﹐聯合全市搬運工舉行大罷工﹐取得了勝利。解放后﹐人民獲得自由﹐胡二作了搬運站站長﹐丁佔元當了工會主席。封建把頭八輩不甘心失敗﹐垂死掙紮。他先是收買工人﹐繼而又瘋狂進行破壞。但他的陰謀都一一敗露。最后﹐血債累累的馬家父子受到法律的制裁。
On the eve of Liberation, a certain northeast city's prices skyrocket. Kuomintang rulers try to ship a great deal of materials abroad. Porter Head Ma Bubei and his son Ma Jinlong seize the opportunity to profit from detaining hire of porters of Sixth Door. Hanger hangs over the workers seriously. After Hu Er's son Tieqiu falls over himself and dies because of a bit of foodstuff on the ground, workers outrage rises to the maximum. They begin to fight against feodal porter heads under the leadership of Underground Communist Party. on the banquet of Ma Bebei's 70th birthday, workers Hu Er and Din Zhanyuan make troubles and oblige Ma to pay out wages owned by the workers. However, the head forces the workers to carry "Retreat Materials" for Kuomintang. The workers of Sixth Door are filled with indignation and succeed in uniting all porters of the city to strike. After liberation, the people are all free. Hu Er acts as Portage Station Master and Ding Xiyuan acts as Chairman of Labour Union. Feodal porter Ma Babei never reconciles to failure and buys off workers at first and then makes destruct insanely. But all his conspiracis are defeated. At last, both the blood-debted father and son are cracked down by law.
