Favorite DAI album!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Okay, I've already done reviews for DAI's previous albums and it wouldn't be fair if I didn't write one for my favorite DAI album. To start off, this album is so amazing. The variety, the meaning, the vocals, the instruments, everything! Gates of heaven and Honjitsu wa seiten nari really kick it at the beginning and get you seriously hyped up! Hiiragi is a beautiful ballad. For those who have said there aren't enough ballads in this song, I would like to say there are plenty. There's Hiiragi, Buranko, Weeds, Field of dreams, and Kagaku no yoru. Well, you wouldn't exactly call these ballads but they balance out the tempos pretty well. Azayaka na hana is a reggae beat composed by the main guitarist, Ryo Owatari. And Mahou no kotoba ~Would you marry me?~ is a such masterpiece! Vibrant, filled with energy! D/N/A is equally as vibrant. And the last song, Thanksgiving Day, will just make you go "oh my gosh". So upbeat! So happy! I love this song. Once the album finishes, I will want to listen to more just because of this song. If you're a new DAI fan and are looking for an album to buy, I recommend you buy this one today.

What You Would Expect from DAI Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
(01)[Gates of Heaven]-starts out slowly and mysteriously, then turns into a rocking and rolling DAI song.i'm reminded of [New World] (02)[honjitsu WA seiten NARI]-bouncy,catchy,classic rock. you can't help but start clapping, swaying, and singing along to this song. (03)[hiiragi]-a pretty, peaceful DAI ballad with Ban-chan almost rapping in the verses and her slow, emotional singing in the choruses.beautiful instrumental. (04)[AZAYAKANAHANA]-the experimental song of the album.some people love it.some people hate it.i like it's refreshing to see a change in DAI's style,as they included a little reggae/ska in the song.reminds me of being on a Jamaican island. (05)[mahou no kotoba~Would you marry me?~]-very jazzy, brassy, and lighthearted.once again,it's you love it or you hate it.i wouldn't pick this song to listen to,but when it comes on,i don't feel the urge to skip to the next track. (06)[BURANKO]-this song has the ability to make me fall asleep.not that that's a bad thing.it takes a few listens to like it.it's a standard DAI song with an Oriental flute playing in the background. (07)[D/N/A]-i have no idea why they gave this name to the song.very light, soaring pop/rock.the chorus reminds me of [tsubasa no keikaku].i like how there's the sound of waves during the break. (08)[Weeds]-standard DAI song.it never caught my attention.i don't think of it at all,but when i listen to it,it has a very sweet melody. (09)[Field of dreams]-i didn't really appreciate this song until i saw the PV for it,showing photos of street performers and DAI from their street band days.then,i realized the struggle and hope for something better in the tune, the music, and the lyrics. (10)[kagaku no yoru]-i always tear up during this song, which is about the world after a nuclear war.the lyrics are very moving, about ash falling from the sky like snow.i liked this song right away.now, after hearing the amazing live performance of it,it one of my favorite DAI songs:"LOVE&PEACE."this song has a great but sad message to the world. (11)[Thanksgiving Day]-after getting very comtemplative and emotional after [kagaku no yoru],this song brightens your mood quite well.lots of synthesized music, but it's still got the DAI flavor.a very hopeful, happy song,in a "let's hold hands and follow me" kind of way. (12)[BONUS TRACK: honjitsu WA seiten NARI a-nation 2003 live]-Ryo cracks me up with his "one, two, one, two, san, shi!" at the beginning.the recording is almost studio quality, plus Ban-chan cheering in the background.great live.

THANK YOU, Do As Infinity Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Gates of Heaven is an absolutely wonderfully done album. You just simply cannot compare their previous releases to another! They change styles, they put on different genres as to keep up with times! Possibly my favorite track on this album is the very first track "Gates of Heaven." Has anyone else translated this song and been surprised??? "Gates of Heaven" is an excellent alternative-ish song very well written and sung by Van. "Honjitsu wa Seiten Nari" is also a fabulous rock track (it's so happy and still cool!) and then the beautiful "Hiiragi" which is another well written song. Ummmm..."Azayaka na Hana" is okay...they had a reggae inflection on this track. I didn't like that too much:( Then the freak of wonder "Mahou no Kotoba~Would you Marry Me?" song comes up. I personally love this song! It's so retro dating-game-ish!!! "Buranko" which is liked by many, but not by me, is a very slow type (who said there were no ballads on here???). And "D/N/A" which I can describe in one word: "RAWKS!!!" I love it! "Weeds" and "Field of Dreams" both sound the same to me (sad...) and then the dance-tastic "Thanksgiving Day" plays and sounds the whole album up proudly (OH! Hurry and buy this CD in its first edition, cuz the others won't have the amazing live track of "Honjitsu wa Seiten Nari!!!") All in all, if ya liked "True Song", buy this! It's defenitley one groovy album!!!
